GUNSMITH, 1683

November the 3rd AD 1683 A true inventory then taken of all the goods cattles debts and credits of Daniel Hankins of Ledbury within the diocese of Hereford gunsmith lately deceased and indifferently then apprised by us whose names are underwritten

Imprimis the decedent’s wearing apparel and money in his purse £6 Item in the hall one table board, one chair, one forme, 13s. 4d. Item one iron jack there; spits, fire tools, £1 Item his books, £1 Item in the buttery three cooper’s hogsheads, one barrel, one safe cupboard, one table board and other things, £1 10s. Item in the kitchen brass and pewter, one skeele and other trumpery goods there, £5 Item in the back shop one anvil and bellows, four smith vices, hammers and all other tools, £6 Item one old clock and pendulum ‘wath’ [watch?], £1 Item in the back yard two grindstones, fire wood etc., £2 Item in the fore shop two old iron jacks and trumpery, 8s. 6d. Item in the entry chamber one joined bedstead with curtains and valance, two feather beds, bolsters, pillows, coverings and other furniture there belonging, £5 Item one joined chest, two joined chairs, two table boards, stools and other small goods there, £1 Item ten pairs of sheets and ‘beans’ [sic] there, £3 6s. 6d. Item in the shop chamber one joined bedstead, one featherbed, one bolster and furniture thereunto belonging, £1 12s. Item one table board, stools, boxes and other small goods, 6s. 6d. Item in the buttery chamber one old feather bed one bolster bedstead coverings and furniture £1 6s. Item one little table board and one old small trunk, 3s. The Account of Joan Hankins, the relict and administratrix of all and singular the goods, chattels and debts of Daniel Hankins, late of the parish of Ledbury in the county and diocese of Hereford, gunsmith deceased, made as well to what she hath received as disbursed by virtue of her administration as followeth viz

The Charge Imprimis This Accountant chargeth herself with the sum of thirty-nine pounds and ten pence, being the full value of all and singular the goods, chattels and debts of the said deceased comprised in an inventory thereof made and exhibited into this Court Sum of the Charge, £39 0s. 10d.

The Discharge Imprimis Paid to John Greenway of Donnington the sum of thirty and five pounds, a debt due by the said deceased, together with the sum of thirty and five shillings interest for the same money; in the whole, £36 15s. Item paid to Susan Hankin, the deceased’s sister-in-law, a debt due by the said deceased, 8s. Item paid for letters of administration of the said deceased’s goods, engrossing and exhibiting the inventory of the same goods, and other charges incidental thereto, 13s. 8d. Item expended in and about the funeral of the said deceased [blank] Item paid to Mrs. Elizabeth Phelps of Tewkesbury, a debt due by the said deceased by bond, £14 8s. Item paid to William Jones of Tewkesbury, a debt due by the said deceased, £2. 10s. Item paid Mr. Randall of Ledbury, a debt due by the said deceased, 13s. 10d. Item paid to Mr. William Berrow of Ledbury, a debt due by the said deceased, 18s. 10d. Sum of the Discharge £63 4s. 4d.

So there remains £23. 15s. 6d 27th November 1684
