New England Local Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (NEAIHA) ROBERT WEKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: An NEAIHA member or immediate family (spouse or child) of an NEAIHA member. The NEAIHA member must be in good standing with the local section (e.g., membership dues are current).
Curriculum: Minimum four-year accredited undergraduate program or accredited graduate program concentrating in industrial hygiene, safety, occupational health, or environment. The scholarship is open to full-time students and part-time students.
Availability: Students are eligible starting with a second-year or sophomore level undergraduate or enrolled in graduate school.
Academic Requirements: The student must have a cumulative minimum grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application. There is no limit on the number of years one student can receive funds. The student must complete a new application each year.
Request for Funds: A student may submit an application (for their sophomore year) after the first marking period in the freshman year (undergraduate) or at any point during graduate studies. The NEAIHA Executive Committee (EC) may request academic records as it deems necessary. Deadline for applications is September 18, 2015. The final decision is decided by a majority vote of the NEAIHA EC and the award will be presented to the winner at the NEAIHA June meeting of each year.
Basis of Awards: The award selection is based upon the collective judgment of the EC upon reviewing the applicant’s application, academic record including GPA, extracurricular activities such as participation in professional organizations, part-time professional and/or volunteer efforts, achievements in industrial hygiene or a closely-related discipline, and academic/professional recommendations and any other pertinent information.
Scholarship Disbursements: One (1) scholarship award of $2,000.00 monetary award plus a certificate of acknowledgement will be made on an annual basis, unless otherwise determined by the NEAIHA EC.
