Munson Township 208 Water Quality Plan Committee

Munson Township 208 Water Quality Plan Committee Meeting Minutes of August 13, 2007 6:00 pm

Committee members present: Anne Rzepka, Elbert Whitright, George Collins, Ron Atkinson, Michael Roche; Andy Bushman, Todd Ray, recorder

Also attending: Gus Saikaly and Gerry Morgan, Geauga Cty. Dept. of Water Resources, Dave Dietrich, Geauga Cty. Planning Dept., and Mike Tusik, Geauga Cty. Health Dept.

Mr. Tusik presented a table of data regarding septic systems in the Bass Lake community area of the township, gleaned from Health Dept. records of 177 recorded septic systems. Mike noted that his data does not reflect any information recorded due to complaints or failing systems identified through point- of-sale testing.

Discussion included consideration that a decision to order the area to be sewered would not likely come from action by the residents. The higher probability for such an order, if at all, would result from findings by O.E.P.A. regarding water quality in the streams and ditches and in Bass Lake.

The group reviewed the draft map provided by Mr. Dietrich. The group decided to indicate some small residential properties located along an area on the east side of the lake to be included in the 208 Plan map. With these properties identified on the draft map, all members agreed with this revision to the draft.

Mr. Collins moved to approve the draft map. Mr. Atkinson seconded the motion. All members of the committee voted in the affirmative.

Mr. Dietrich noted for the committee that a final map will be prepared and will be presented to the full Township Board of Trustees for approval. Once approved, Gus Saikaly will take it before the Geauga County Commissioners for inclusion into the County 208 Plan.

There being no more business for the committee to attend to, it was acknowledged that this would be the final meeting of the 208 Plan committee. Mr. Ray agreed to prepare minutes for this final meeting to be included in the township record.

The meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m. recorder: ______
