Surrealistic Collage
DIRECTIONS:
1) Scan MANY magazines for photographs. Look for anything that strikes your interest and PULL it out!
2) First, look for LARGE pieces to create a background. In the example above, The sofa, the carpet, the grass and flowers, the walls, ceiling and walking bridge scene make up the background.
3) Assemble your background, but don’t glue.
4) Look for and add touches that add to the visual interest and composition of the piece. They don’t have to make sense. They just have to fill space in an interesting way that is appealing to the eye.
5) Assemble these pieces on top of the background.
6) Once you and your teacher like the composition, GLUE.
7) You may add tape, or colored transparency or pantone film such as the blue stripes seen above to add interest as well.
