Purpose of the The Dental Services Coordinator is responsible for liaison between the Coastal Job: Health Alliance Dental Department (CHA Dental), CHA staff and patients. Manages clinic operations and patient services to ensure that the patient flow operates efficiently and effectively. Supports the dental staff in delivering high quality oral health care. Collaborates on staff scheduling, productivity, and operational improvement and management issues.

Ensures dental equipment is maintained and repaired, as needed.  Ensures encounters are completed and ready for billing department in a timely manner.  Recommends any necessary addition of charges to the chargemaster to Billing Manager.  Follows all CHA Billing and Collections policies and procedures and works cooperatively with Billing Manager on all matters related to billing and collection.  Maintains and improves clinic operations in conjunction with the Dental Director, Dentist and other staff.  Assures daily efficient patient flow in a culturally competent, professional and courteous manner that promotes customer satisfaction.  Monitors and resolves patient complaints, documents, and responds in accordance with CHA’s policies and procedures.  Monitors the translation needs of providers and patients, identifies problem areas, and make changes, as necessary.  Participates in appropriate health promotion / disease prevention activities, both on-site and off-site as required  Has a basic understanding of dental procedures and next appointments and can convey this information to the patient.  Supervises the dental assistant assigned directly to clinical programs to ensure efficient and effective delivery of patient services.  Conducts daily staff huddles, to discuss performance, operational issues, improvement activities, policies, and procedures.  Assigns and completes job assignments and work schedules.  Administers patient satisfaction surveys, as appropriate.

Marginal ((Non  Implements and enforces CHA policies and procedures, including Essential) maintenance of patient confidentiality, to ensure that the principles of CHA Functions and Dental are implemented. Responsibilities:  Attends required meetings and participates in committees, as requested.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education and/or  Previous management experience in dental clinics, community health Experience: centers or dentist offices.

 Computer literacy required; familiarity with the use of Microsoft Windows and Office (including basic Excel skills).

 Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent and sensible judgment; demonstrates decisionmaking and problemsolving expertise.

 Ability to collaborate and work effectively with the management team, patients, the public, community members and external agencies

Language Skills:  Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner; Spanish language competency is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: Regularly (2/3 or more total time) required to:  sit on an office chair up to 6 hours per day;  use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and controls such as those on telephones and computers;  talk and hear in person and on the telephone;  reach with hands and arms, grasp objects, push/pull file drawers of 10-50 pounds, twist the upper body, rotate the wrist, and use finger dexterity writing and using the computer.
