Dear students:

As previously discussed, the $19,000 Promise Scholarship is within reach. Let’s be real focused these last 30 days prior to the exam

We look forward to your attendance on June 5th and June6th for Math ACT Prep class at Bridgeport Middle School. The classes run from 6-8 pm. Please arrive at 5:50 pm on Wednesday to get registered. The classes will be taught by Charlene Kenner, Jeff Ledsome and myself. For High School seniors this is your last chance to get a 20 in math and to get the Promise Scholarship. In order to get the most benefit from the upcoming June classes, please do the following 6 things

1)-please complete the pre work of 60 questions. We will review these questions in class. By becoming familiar with the questions, you will able to more quickly identify what the question wants and the thought process you used to try to solve it.

2)-please review the 50 tips you need to know. Please begin to understand these concepts. Please highlight the ones you do not understand and bring them to the class

3)-I would recommend you have a very light work and extracurricular schedule the week of the test. If you have a part-time job, see if you can take the week off. It is not worth working 20 hours and earning $160 when the Promise Scholarship is worth $19,000.

4)-if you have a smart phone, please get a free ACT math app and work the math problems. Try to work five to ten problems a day

5)-Please complete the actual ACT test and grade how you did. You need to get 33-34 questions correct to get a 20

6) Commit yourself to studying 35-40 hours after you graduate focusing on your weakest subjects. Use every free moment prepare yourself for the exam

See you on the 5th. Please come prepared to the class in order to receive the most benefit from it.

A special thanks to Susan Collins, Grant Spencer and Wendy Imperial from the Harrison County Board of Education office whose commitment to the advancement of their students is unparalleled (a math term)

Take care,
