Name:______Saint Bartholomew School Summer Reading List 2016 Grade Four

Dear Rising Fourth Grader:

I am so excited to be reading with you in 4th grade! Summer is a fantastic time to read because we usually have a little more time on our hands. I have a couple reading goals for you this summer. The first goal is for you to read Frindle by Andrew Clements. We will be working with Frindle the first few weeks of 4th grade. Even if you have read it before, I would like for you to reread it carefully this summer and be prepared to talk and write about it when we come back. My second goal is that I would like for you to pick TWO other books that you really want to read by any author and any genre (this means the type of book, such as fiction, nonfiction, biography, fable, fantasy, etc.). The only thing I ask is that they not be books you have read before. Please read ONE book in June, ONE book in July, and ONE book in August. You may of course read other books!!!

Lastly, I would like for you to try and convince one (or both) of your parents to read one of your summer reading book choices. After you both have finished, have a “Book Club” with them, where you discuss the book you have both read.

1. Read Frindle by Andrew Clements

2. Read 2 other books (for a total of three books) 3. Try to convince one of your parents (or it could be any relative) to read one of the choices above and have a mini “book club” with them to discuss the book. 4. Come to school ready to share your thoughts about your summer reading with the class in August.

Our fourth grade summer reading list can be found on our website at: school.stbartholomew.org. The public library, bookstores, and the personal libraries of friends and family are perfect spots to find new and interesting books.
