Building a Nevada Timeline
Activity Instructions Print a copy of the timeline posters for each group of four students. Have students use their pre-existing knowledge to place the posters in chronological order. When they believe the posters are in the correct order, have students check their answers by finding the actual dates of the events in their Nevada textbooks.
Alternatively, print each poster on a magnet. Give each student on poster, and write the dates of each of the events in chronological order on the board. Call students up one-at- at-a-time. When they approach the front of the classroom, have them place their poster on the magnetic white board under the date they feel best fits their topic. After all students have placed their events on the timeline, have the class determine whether the sequencing is correct or whether changes are needed. Change the order accordingly.
