S17 Lycoming/Sulilvan County 1 Field Communications Manual

17.0 FORESTRY CREWS

17.1 Fire Station Crews - Some fire stations have organized forestry crews under the direction of the Forestry Department. County Control may be requested to contact these crews in special situations. This will be handled as follows:

Station Tones "Station (number). . . Forestry Crew Report to Your Station" Station Tones "Station (number). . . Forestry Crew Report to Your Station. . . (time)"

Each Station will coordinate response within their stations or departments and when they have manpower available, they will notify the Communications Center by phone of the number available to respond. Once the Communications Center has sufficient manpower reported to them, they will transmit a message over Fire 1 stating they have sufficient manpower to respond.

17.2 In Lycoming County, radio contact with Forestry Service units is on Lycoming County fire frequencies that have been approved in an effort to enhance communications.

17.3 The Bureau of Forestry is responsible for searches on state land. They have trained fire personnel, known as Hasty Teams. Forestry and the Hasty Teams are willing to aid in a search anywhere within their region. The Communications Center will contact Forestry upon request.
