Stirling 2015 At the invitation of Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict and Pope Francis, young Catholics have gathered around the world to celebrate their faith at World Youth Day. Inspired by these gatherings we invite you to experience the fun, prayer and joy of a World Youth Day in Scotland.

 The XXX World Youth Day will be celebrated in Scotland at Stirling University from the 30 July –2 August 2015  This is for the 14-25 years age group.  At the request of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland and the young people who attended “Scotland’s Rio” this second event has been organised.  Over the course of the 4 days, the World Youth Day programme will be followed: o Catechesis o Prayer & worship o Workshops o Youth Festival o Social event o Vigil o Pilgrim walk  Young people will attend catechesis and workshops in age appropriate groups.  The cost of £250 per person includes travel, accommodation and all meals.

Travel and accommodation details:

o Coach from the diocese to Stirling University. Pick up points will be in Inverclyde and Paisley. Return from Stirling University will be early evening of Sunday 2 August 2014. o Participants will be accommodated at the University of Stirling’s Beech Court which was only completed in the summer of 2014 and rooms are all singles, en-suite.

Other details:  All participants will remain on campus at all times.  Full attendance is required at all activities.  Stewards will be on campus to help with the flow of people.  I.D. badges will be produced for everyone.  There will be a pilgrim walk with the Scottish Youth Cross on Sunday 2nd August 2015, to the final Mass at St. Mary’s, Stirling which is approximately 3 miles away. Transport will be available for those unable to make this walk.  Each Diocesan Youth Officer and identified leaders are responsible for their own group.
