Request for Proposal Tree Preservation and Landscape Consulting Services

The Village of Glen Ellyn is issuing a Request for Proposal for tree preservation and landscape consulting services to individuals and firms with arborist certification. Glen Ellyn is a suburban community of 27,000 people named as “Tree City USA” for the past 25 years with a commitment to enhancing and protecting trees on public and private properties. The consultant will assist and support the Planning & Development Department and the Public Works Department in the administration and enforcement of the Tree Preservation Ordinances. This includes responsibility for the review and approval of tree preservation plans associated with construction projects, site inspections to verify compliance with the approved plan and arboricultural standards, and the resolution of complaints and violations of applicable regulations.

The consultant is required to possess and maintain arborist certification by the International Society of Arboriculture and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of tree preservation means and methods, arboricultural standards and governmental regulatory provisions. In addition, the consultant should possess knowledge and skill in landscape planning and design with advanced training, education or experience. Licensing as a landscape architect is desired but not required. The consultant must also possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to appropriately and effectively address questions and concerns from the public.
