RAMAPO COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY Anisfield School of Business Unit Council Minutes September 2, 2015 ASB 135

Lew Chakrin called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM.

1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the May 6 meeting were approved.

2. INTELLECTUAL CONTRIBUTIONS Dean Chakrin reported on intellectual contributions since the May 6 Unit Council meeting.

3. DEAN’S ANNOUNCEMENTS Dean Chakrin introduced new faculty members: Rick Nunez, Associate Professor of Management Rosemary Ervin, Assistant Professor of Accounting Maggie Ho, Adjunct Professor of Information Technology Management

4. ASB ALL-COLLEGE COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS 2015/16 The Unit Council vote to elect  Rikki Abzug to the all-college Tenure Committee  Connie Crawford to the all-college Sabbatical Committee  George Gonpu to the all-college Career Development Committee

5. PREPARATION FOR AACSB CONTINUOUS REVIEW – Karen Norton and Lew Chakrin Karen Norton presented the proposed changes to ASB’S Definition of Faculty Qualified as Scholarly Academics. The Unit Council voted to accept the changes.

6. FAEC – S. Eisner Susan reported that the position of Faculty Assembly secretary is open and to email her if interested.

7. SAC – K. Norton Gladys Torres-Baumgarten is the new chair of the committee.

Assessment plans from all programs are due to Karen by September 15.

8. MBA – T. Landers Tim reported that there are 35 students in the new cohort. 10% are Ramapo graduates.

9. ANNOUNCEMENTS Dean Chakrin announced that there are Platinum funds available for large groups of students requesting off campus travel. 1 Faculty were asked to recommend students for the COPLAC URSA conference in October. Each school can recommend two students.

Ray Rigoli announced that four Ramapo alumni were recognized in NJCPA’S “30 under 30” news item.

Dean Chakrin reminded faculty to review reappointment applications, available in the ASB office, before the next Unit Council.

The AACSB Peer Review Team will be on campus conducting the Continuous Improvement Review on October 5.
