JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Banquet Chef (Seasonal Manager, Non-Exempt)
Description The Incline Village General Improvement District is accepting applications for a Banquet Chef. Reporting to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, this position organizes, supervises, prepares and assists with serving all foods for banquets or events at IVGID facilities. Work season runs approximately April through December.
Position Responsibilities (this list is not all inclusive of job duties and responsibilities). Provides excellent guest service to internal/external customers and guests. Assists Executive Chef with all banquet food operations; including training of Banquet Cooks, Prep Cooks and Dishwashers in keeping to food safety standards, rules and regulations; demonstrating specifics if the jobs. Prepares daily prep list and food products for banquets/events according to established quantities and portion sizes (recipes) for use in final preparation of menu items served ensuring effective, efficient, and quality operations for meeting discerning and demanding guest service standards. Assists in scheduling BOH banquet staff to reflect budgeted guidelines and identifies specific staff duties during banquet/event. Assists in serving hot and cold food items to customers, ensuring service and health code regulations are followed. Supervises staff ensuring all banquet work areas, walk-in, and freezers are kept in a neat, clean, organized and sanitary condition. Follows all health and safety regulations, rules and guidelines, ensuring proper food storage, including dating of all food items. Stores food refuse in proper containers; disposes of refuse at end of day in designated areas and before leaving informs staff in all aspects of the final close down of the banquet area. Assists in ordering, and restocking food for menu items, meeting ordering and health code standards. Ensures staff meets uniform and dress code guidelines and helps monitor and ensure adherence to safety, health, and cleanliness standards and regulations. Communicate department and state regulatory policy and procedures. Ensures daily adherence to safety and health standards and regulations. Reviews, monitors and reports cost of goods sold (COGS) as well as BOH labor; achieves targeted cost of goods sold and BOH banquet labor costs. Ensures general maintenance and upkeep of banquet kitchen equipment. Responsible for the food preparation and timely execution of each banquet/event. Assists Executive Chef in the scheduling of staff for banquets in a way that reflects budgeted guide lines. Assist the Executive Chef in building recipes for the banquet department recipe portfolio according to the standard lay out of the Food and Beverage department. Performs special projects or other duties as assigned such as assisting with inventory.
Qualifications Education and/or Experience High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory or lead experience is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS OR ABILITIES Good organizational, communication, math and guest service skills. Follow directions and effectively communicate (written/verbal) with customers and employees. Work efficiently and in a busy and crowded environment in a positive manner. Consistently report for work on time and work a schedule including weekends and holidays. Obtain Food Service Manager certificate from Washoe County within three months of hire date. Able to lift/move 25 to 100 pounds.
Compensation Salary range is $14.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. This position includes generous benefit package (from April to December) with company paid health (empl/dep), STD, life insurance, vacation/sick leave & recreation benefits.
