The Stanislaus National Forest is seeking candidates to join our team on the Rim Fire Recovery effort. This opportunity is a NTE 1 year Detail/Temporary Promotion opportunity as Civil Engineer (Transportation), GS-0810-11.
Major Duties: (GS-11) As part of the Rim Fire Recovery team, the incumbent will serves as a civil engineer on the Stanislaus National Forest with responsibility for planning of transportation systems. Assignments cover work projects that involve all aspects of a complete transportation plan.
You will develop an integrated transportation system plan for the Rim Fire Recovery project using geographic information systems, aerial photographs, topographic and geologic maps, and on-the-ground reconnaissance. You will locate and verify planning objectives for proposed transportation system including analysis of resource, protection and activity management plans as they relate to transportation systems. The incumbent will also prepare or review environmental analysis, Environmental Impact Statements, and special reports with regard to transportation engineering.

The Forest Supervisor’s Office is located in Sonora, California about 45 miles east of Modesto. The cities of Merced, Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco are located approximately 1 to 2 hours away. The four Ranger Districts, Mi-Wok, Calaveras, Summit and Groveland, are within 45 minutes of the Supervisor’s Office. Sonora is a full service community.
