Dartmouth College Campus Walking Routes ______

1. Hop/Hood Route (.5 mile) Start at the intersection of Wheelock and Main St. at The Hanover Inn and proceed to the Hopkins Center. Walk through the front doors, turn right, go past art gallery, turn left through dining area and into the Hood Museum. Do a loop through the first floor of the Hood (observing the artwork) and leave the museum through the front door. Go through the courtyard, cross Wheelock to the green and return to the main intersection.

2. Tuck Drive Route (1mile) Start at the west entrance of Baker/Berry Library, cross N. Main St. to the Tuck Mall and take the right fork down Tuck Drive. Go down Tuck Drive until you see the steps on the left side of the street across from the boathouse. Go up the stairs and follow the road past the dorms, Thayer School and back to Tuck Mall and the library.

3. Fairchild Center Route (1 mile) From Rauner Library, go north on College Street and into Fairchild Hall. Observe the pendulum just inside and up the stairs to the second floor. Exit the doors to the right, up the stairs and right down the drive, (look for the Bema off to the left, just past the Observatory) which brings you back to Wheelock Street. Go back to College street and Rauner Library.

4. Occom Pond Route (1.5 miles) From the intersection of Rope Ferry Rd. and Webster Ave, take Rope Ferry Rd. to the golf clubhouse, go left towards the Outing Club, left on Occom Ridge Rd. completing the loop around the pond. This is the signature walk for the college - it is beautiful all four seasons!

Town of Hanover Routes

APPALACHIAN TRAIL - Start at the Hanover Inn and proceed down Main St. Make a left on Lebanon St. and proceed to the Mobil Station on Rte. 120. Behind the Mobil Station on the right hand side is the Appalachian Trail. Proceed on the trail to Velvet Rocks shelter and then back to town on Wheelock Street. (approximately 4.2 miles) TOWN ROUTE - Start at the corner of Main and Wheelock, proceed down Main Street. Go left on Lebanon Street and head to Food Coop. At Coop turn left on Route 120 back towards the college. Proceed to the Medical School on North Park. Turn left on Lyme Rd. to Maynard Street. Go right on Maynard and right on Rope Ferry, around Occum Pond and back to corner of Main and Wheelock. (approximately 3.5 miles)

TUCK DRIVE EXTENDED - Follow the original Tuck Drive Route (in your packet) and go past steps and boathouse down to Wheelock Street. Turn left and head back to the college and turn left on North Main and back to Baker Library. (approximately 1.5 miles)

PINE PARK TRAIL - From Hanover Inn head to Occum Pond. When you reach golf clubhouse go straight on gravel road alongside clubhouse and then turn right onto dirt trail . Go down hill and take a sharp left. Follow trail along Girl Brook under the golfing foot bridge and along the river back to Occom Pond and return to Hanover Inn (approximately 3.5 miles). Golfers have the right of way!

RIP ROAD - From Hanover Inn go east on East Wheelock. Make a left turn on Rip Road. Make another left onto Reservoir Rd. Make a final left onto North Park St. (Rte. 10) and take a right on Wheelock and back to the Hanover Inn (approximately 3.8 miles.)
