FAMILY PORTRAIT

Written by Tessa Budmayr, 2007 For my brothers

The OLDEST of the five He may have had it the hardest yet His strength continually amazes me His wisdom continually teaches me

He’s had to experience it all first The first to face the unbearable tasks The first to experience pain The first to learn that life is not always easy

He’s the first to discover what it takes to excel The first to learn that hard work pays off The first to accept defeat The first to achieve success

He’s the strength we turn to when we can’t find our own The one we turn to for protection The one we turn to for guidance The shoulder we lean on for support

The OLDEST of the five Our backbone, our protector Our teacher, our comfort His courage carries us throughout the journey The TEACER of the five An understanding listener A dedicated leader He sets the standard for us to follow

His strength in faith Determination to succeed, Dedication to perfect Has made him the admirable person he is today

He is consistently patient and kind A pleasure to be around A source of comfort At the end of a rough day

He strives to be the absolute best, He sets his goals high, Has made numerous achievements, But always remains modest.

The TEACHER of the five He has an unique way of leading by example His lessons always have a tremendous impact Giving us the strength needed to “never surrender”. The FEARLESS of the five As I watch him grow I watch him embrace new challenges I watch him struggle, I watch him succeed

As I watch him interact I watch him develop new relationships I watch others develop respect for him I watch him continually demonstrate humility.

As I watch him perform I watch him amaze audiences I watch him become a significant role model I watch him impact lives.

As I consult him for guidance I listen as he speaks with confidence and maturity. I learn as he demonstrates intelligence. I smile as he brightens my day.

The FEARLESS of the five Through the years I’ve watched him grow. Through the experiences, I’ve watched him mature. Through the tough times, I’ve watched him prevail. The YOUNGEST of the five He was quite the surprise, His undying energy keeps us going. His presence keeps us thankful.

His personality keeps us laughing, His thoughts keep us wondering, His words keep us thinking, His innocence keeps us guessing.

His bright brown eyes melt our hearts, Making it difficult to ever say no His tears sting us with affliction Causing his pain to become our own.

His hugs comfort us. His smile nourishes us. His humor revives us. His voice charms us.

The YOUNGEST of the five He was certainly a most precious gift A well-known little boy His individuality completes us.
