The UASI administration team is currently waiting to hear back from the State on this request. There was agreement among the subcommittee chairs on using a consultant. A focus group will be formed to decide the scope of the consultant. FY07 Citizen Corps Grant The FY07 Citizen Corps Program (CCP) grant Application process is now handled by the Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission (NVSC). The NVSC divided the State into Citizen Corps Regions. The East Citizen Corps region includes Douglas, Sarpy, Washington, Saunders, and Dodge counties.

The Omaha/Douglas County Citizen Corps Council recently submitted an application to the NVSC on behalf of the East region for the FY07 program year. The three goals of this submission are: Spontaneous Volunteer Management, Partnering with Faith-Based Organizations, and Public Education for Community and Family Safety. The total FY07 Citizen Corps Program grant request was $23,090. The Three Rivers Health District will serve as the fiscal agent for the FY07 East region Citizen Corps grant.

Additional FY07 Citizen Corps Grant application materials were distributed to subcommittee chairs. Natural Hazards Center Andrea Fox reminded the subcommittee chairs that Project Erica Kuligowski with the Natural Hazards Center may be contacting them regarding preparedness in our UASI. Erica will brief the working group on her project at the large group meeting on 12/6/07. FY07 State Homeland A handout was distributed that includes detailed Security Grant Program information on the State’s FY07 State Homeland 1 (HSGP) allocation to UASI Security Grant Program (HSGP) allocations. The region UASI will receive $50,000 for CBRNE Equipment, and $42,000 for Planning, Exercising, and Training (PET) distribution. An additional $692,000 was allocated to the UASI region for the Fusion Process. Training and Exercise Maria Reiter updated the subcommittee chairs on Update the recent tabletop exercise (TTX). Among the lessons learned was that there is not a clear understanding of public warning, and the need to utilize Unified Command.

Fire: (Chief Rohlfing) Urban Fire’s Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) and mounting hardware have been purchased. Omaha Fire Department is currently looking in to mounting the MDTs on the trucks.

Emergency Management: (Paul Johnson) Codespear is moving forward.

911 Communications: (Mark Conrey) 911 Communications is working with MAT to join the system. There is an RFP to join counties to provide bandwidth. The whole system must be rebanded. All radios and base stations must be reprogrammed. This will take approximately one year. Sprint will pay the cost to reprogram.

Public Works: (Harald Flatoen) The City of Omaha Public Works Department will work with the other counties in the future.

Public Health: (Maria Reiter) The Douglas County Health Department recently participated in radio trainings, 2 and is an OMMRS radio test partner.
