The occasion was graced by the presence of the former Minister of State (MEA) Dr. Shashi Tharoor, diplomats from most of the BIMSTEC countries including the Ambassador of Myanmar and Thailand to India, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, academicians of highest repute and young scholars and students of International Relations. The proceedings of the seminar were forwarded by the association in the format of possible policy inputs to the MEA and efforts to produce a scholarly volume on the theme is currently underway.  The third foundation day lecture of the association on Rhetoric & Realism: Prospects of India Pakistan Conflict & Cooperation was delivered by former Foreign Secretary; Sri Krishnan Srinivasan on 20th July, 2010 at Bangla Akademi, Kolkata.  The platform of the JAIR was selected by the Public Diplomacy Division (MEA, GOI) as one of the podiums of Eastern India to conduct its Distinguished Lecture Series by eminent former diplomats of India. The lecture titled, Making American Interest Groups Appreciate India’s Concerns & Priorities: A Public Diplomacy Exercise Abroad on the Day was delivered by former Ambassador, Sri Ronen Sen on 13th September 2010.  JAIR published the Lecture Series-I on India’s Foreign Policy: Some Implications by Professor Rakhahari Chatterjee who delivered the Second Foundation Day Lecture.  JAIR registered itself as a non-profit organization in the NGO Partnership system launched by the Planning Commission, Government of India.  Taking into consideration the demands of the young researchers of International Relations and related social sciences, the association organized a two days workshop on Research Methods in Political Science / International Relations and Related Social Sciences on 10th-11th December 2010 in active collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (Eastern Regional Center). The workshop received an overwhelming response from young researchers and proposals have come to conduct workshops on similar lines in the near future.  One of the biggest accomplishments of the association in the past year has been sending post graduates of International Relations to join the IDSA (New Delhi) and the ICWA (New Delhi) as interns. The association is indeed proud to provide such exposure to its student members. Along with it, the association is working on the MEA proposal of providing fellowship to students undertaking foreign language courses from recognized institutes.  The association has also opened its state chapters in Orissa, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, New Delhi, Maharashtra and Kerala during the last year. The reach of the association was also enhanced after its formal website was opened after a lot of trials and tribulations. An online journal entitled Jair Online Journal has been also launched along with the website.  The association has been able to perform because of the enthusiasm and active support provided by its collaborators. It is once again because of the faith bestowed by the chief collaborators and the enthusiasm of the student members that JAIR plans to organize a five days convention of International Relations in collaboration with the Public Diplomacy Division (MEA, GOI) on the theme of India’s Constructive Engagement in Asia in the Twenty-first Century in the month of August 2011. The association has also stressed on building a meaningful nexus between the academia and the policy makers by deciding to bring major and minor research projects under its aegis.  Lastly JAIR sincerely thanks the Public Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India especially Sri Navdeep Suri, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Professor Susanta Ghosh, Hon.
