TerpZone Billiard League Fall 2013

League Play: Mondays 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm League Dates: September 23rd – December 9th

Matches will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Warm-ups will begin at 6:00 pm.

All signed forms MUST be submitted by Friday September 20th at 8:00pm in order to secure your registration.

Fees: $10.00 - One time registration fee (will be collected on first day of league play) $5.00 - Weekly fee.

Format of Play General Information and Rules Governing Play

Rules and regulations will follow the World Standardized BCA Rules. Exceptions are outlined in “League Rules” following.

League Rules

1. Cue Ball fouls only a. Any contact with the cue ball prior to shooting is considered a foul. b. Any object ball moved while attempting to play should be moved to approximately its original position. The opposing player may elect to leave it as it lies. 2. Breaking a. Players will alternate break. b. First break will be determined by lagging. c. On a failed break attempt the players may mutually agree to re-break. However, control of the break transfers to the non-breaking player.

3. Foul on Break a. Should a player foul on the break, the shooting player has ball in hand behind the head string. 4. 8-Ball on the break a. Pocketing the 8 ball on the break is a win. b. Pocketing the 8 ball on the break while pocket scratching the cue ball is a loss. c. Pocketing the 8 ball on the break while off-table scratching the cue ball, spotted 8-ball, shooting player has ball in hand behind the head string. 5. Loss of game due to 8 ball a. A player pocketing the 8-ball prior to pocketing that players designated set results in a loss. b. While shooting at the 8-ball, should a player pocket scratch the cue ball, it will result in a loss. c. If while shooting at the 8-ball, a foul should occur that is NOT a pocket scratch, it is NOT a loss of game and the following player has ball in hand. TerpZone Billiard League Fall 2013 9-Ball

6. Foul on break a. Should a player foul on the break, the shooting player now has ball in hand anywhere on the table. 7. 9-Ball on the break a. Pocketing the 9-ball on the break is a win. b. Pocketing the 9-ball on the break while fouling in any way with the cue ball results in a spotted 9-ball with the shooting player having ball in hand anywhere on the table. 8. Early 9-ball a. Pocketing the 9-ball early results in a win as long as it was NOT pocketed during a push out or with a foul. b. Pocketing the 9-ball early by way of a foul, or resulting in a foul after pocketing, results in a spotted 9-ball with the shooting player having ball in hand. c. Pocketing the 9-ball early by way of a push out results in a spotted 9-ball. 9. Shooting the 9-ball a. Scratching while pocketing the 9-ball is NEVER a loss. Should a foul occur, the 9-ball is spotted and the shooting player has ball in hand.

Format

 Each match will be a race to a maximum of 7, depending on player skill levels. o Maximum of 8 games of 9-ball o Maximum of 5 games of 8-ball o Player winning the lag may choose EITHER first break, or first set type. o Once a set type is chosen, the match will play to the maximum number of games in that set type before switching to the other set type, or a player reaches the required number of games won to win the match. o Top 8 in season standings advance to playoffs.

Standings and Points

 Standings will be determined by number of points. o Should a tie occur, it will be determined by: . # of matches won . game win % . 1 game play-off prior to post-seasonal play  Points will be awarded as follows: o Each game win will earn points in proportion to their target and skill level. o 2 points for a match win.

 Questions regarding scoring should be immediately brought to the attention of the League Commissioner. It is the responsibility of the participants to confirm the accuracy of the reported scores. Any discrepancies in score totals, etc. should be immediately addressed. TerpZone Billiard League Fall 2013

Rescheduling, Postponements, and Defaults

 The league commissioner will decide if a night is to be canceled and will then notify the league via email. The commissioner will update league member with make-up dates and times.  Failure of a league member to play when scheduled will be considered a forfeit. Any player that forfeits 4 weeks of play will be released from league with no refund.  In case of forfeiture or bye, the present player will be awarded points as if the match had been won. A bye or forfeiture will not affect a player’s win percentage or games won total.  Should a make-up match be needed, it is the responsibility of the absent member to notify the commissioner PRIOR TO LEAGUE NIGHT. The match will then be rescheduled at the discretion of both members involved. It is your responsibility to reschedule a match and to notify all parties necessary including opponent and commissioner.

Smoking

 There will be NO SMOKING allowed. The Adele H. Stamp Student Union – Center for Campus Life is a non-smoking facility.

Gambling

 There will be NO GAMBLING allowed. The Adele H. Stamp Student Union – Center for Campus Life abides by all state regulations in matters regarding gambling.

Rules Enforcement

 Any observed rules violations should be brought to the attention of the league commissioner immediately. If an opponent is observed violating any rules or regulations, the player should be notified promptly. If the issue cannot be resolved amongst the players, the league commissioner has the final decision upon the course of action.
