FACT STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Circumstance: Breaking and Entering

Victim: East McDowell Middle School

Suspect/ Arrest: Dylan Scott Austin W/M DOB: 12/12/1997 Marion, NC

Nicholas William Mayo III W/M DOB: 10/26/1997

Rodrigo Daniel Valdez H/M DOB: 4/2/1998

Charges: Breaking and Entering (1) ct. each Larceny After B&E (1) ct. each Injury to Real Property (1) ct. each

Summary: On July 7, 2014 representatives with East McDowell Middle School reported a breaking and entering to the school. Investigation of the B&E revealed numerous items were taken from the school and extensive damage was done to the school. The suspects were identified and arrested following the investigation. Three (3) juveniles were also identified as having committed the B&E and larceny and have been reported to the juvenile authorities.

Dylan Austin and Nicholas Mayo are also charged with other B&E’s and are in McDowell County jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
