Allied Air Forces Memorial Day – Sunday 6th September 2015

The annual Allied Air Forces Memorial Day will take place on Sunday 6th September 2015. This year marks the milestone of the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and we pay tribute to all aspects of the allied air services who contributed so significantly to this turning point in the war. The event will feature the customary Service followed by the Marchpast & Salute and Sunset Ceremony. The Parade will be once again be led by the Royal British Legion Yorkshire Marching Band and Corps of Drums. We have organised a Spitfire flypast display and the Vulcan is confirmed to bring the event to a spectacular conclusion.

The President of the Allied Air Forces Memorial, Sir Stephen Dalton GCB ADC LLD (Hon.) DSc (Hon.) BSc FRAeS CCMI RAF, the Director & Trustees cordially invite participation from all Squadron / Service Associations, Serving Air Forces Personnel and Air Training Corps Cadets and other relevant organisations to join us and participate in this poignant occasion. Invitations to Senior RAF personnel, Dignitaries, Air Force and Defence Attachés have been made and we are delighted to confirm the attendance of Air Chief Marshal Sir Andrew Pulford KCB CBE ADC RAF, Chief of the Air Staff and other high level attendance in this significant year.

There will no admission charge for Standard Bearers and Parade Participants and all other supporting guests you may wish to bring will be offered the reduced pre-paid admission rate of £5 per Adult and £3 Children, as per the participation / booking form that follows on from this letter.

We do hope you will be able to support the Allied Air Forces Memorial and join us for what should be another memorable occasion here at Elvington. Please complete the enclosed form and return to the Project Officer by Friday 21st August so that we can organise the logistics of the event.
