JOB TITLE: Executive Director, full time, permanent

Colchester Community Workshops, a vocational training centre for adults with intellectual disabilities, is seeking to fill the position of Executive Director.

This position will report directly to the Colchester Community Workshops Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall administration of the facility in accordance with its principles and philosophies, policies and procedures, and established guidelines. The Executive Director will act as a liaison between staff and Board and is responsible for the direct supervision of the Operations and Financial Managers. This position is responsible for promoting the organization as both a high quality, person centered service provider and a professional place of business, through active participation in community events, public presentations, community partnerships and Directions Council of Nova Scotia.

The successful applicant will have above average verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational skills. This position requires the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines, while demonstrating strong, effective decision making skills.

This is a salaried position, and will require flexibility to adapt work schedule to meet required professional commitments.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING INCLUDES: A post secondary degree/certificate in the human services field or equivalency

A minimum of five (5) years of management experience and at least two (2) years working with persons with intellectual and physical disabilities in a vocationally oriented environment.

Demonstrated experience in business and finance management, as well as, facility operations, sales and marketing.

Experience working in a not for profit organization.

Experience in a unionized environment and knowledge of Simply Accounting would be assets.
