EXPERIENCE

Leadership

 Supervised and managed as few as two to as many as 300 personnel of numerous different occupational skills and nationalities.

 Served as a deputy commander for an Iraqi security forces advisory team.

o Credited by the U.S. brigade commander as personally turning around a mediocre team into one of the top two teams within the advisory division, and credited by the U.S. battalion commander as personally turning his weakest transition team into his strongest.

 Commanded a 140 person Special Forces Advanced Operational Base which covered all of Baghdad Iraq, the center of gravity for the conflict at the time.

o Supervised the conduct of over 85 combat operations.

o Developed a human intelligence infrastructure which continued to produce results across Baghdad long after the unit returned.

 Personally selected to lead the battalion’s main effort as a Special Forces company commander during the battalion’s culminating pre-deployment exercise, synchronizing operations with an attached special operations element from the United Arab Emirates and a U.S. infantry brigade.

Communication

 Wrote, reviewed, and adjudicated Department of Defense (DoD) policies, directives, and initiatives for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Selected as the lead policy officer for the development of SCOTT SCHROEDER Page TWO

the DoD directive for unconventional warfare under the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations / Low-Intensity Conflict.

 Personally selected to draft a ten-page information paper on women in service for the Secretary of Defense. Received accolades from the most senior levels of the Army and Department of Defense.

 Presented the Memorial Day address for hometown in Libertyville, Illinois in 2012 and received the invitation two years later to present the address again at the request of the mayor and the town’s chapter for Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Organizing

 Planned, organized, and coordinated an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Joint Command’s (IJC) Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Conference as the IJC C-IED Division chief of operations in Kabul, Afghanistan.

o This conference brought together over 100 representatives from all Coalition major commands as well as the Afghan ministries to share best practices and develop solutions to the C-IED threat across the country.

o Awarded a Joint Service Commendation Medal by the Division Commander.

o This conference developed Afghan-ISAF relationships which had not previously existed.

 Built the first C-IED working group within the 173rd Brigade Combat Team as the C-IED Support Element Officer-in-Charge.

o This working group brought together all of the Brigade’s subordinate commands as well as representatives from nearly every brigade staff section to develop unconventional strategies and solutions to counter the IED threat and mitigate its effects.

Mentoring

 Mentored hundreds of individuals throughout 20 years of service in first-line supervising positions.

o Assisted numerous soldiers through personal tragedies and crisis, career progression, career transition, and numerous personal and professional challenges.

 Mentored and advised two Afghan general officers in the conduct of leading, organizing, planning, and preparing for security and corps-level staff operations in support of 20,000 Afghan soldiers.
