PURPOSE: to Build, Direct, and Mentor a Team of Spiritually Gifted Musicians to Lead Delegates

PURPOSE: To build, direct, and mentor a team of spiritually gifted musicians to lead delegates in musical worship during LYC 2015.

MISSION: To develop a team that desires to glorify God in every aspect of their life, both on and off the stage, leading others in corporate worship by example and with considerable spiritual preparation.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Your responsibility will be first and foremost to develop a team of musicians that are committed to collective spiritual growth in order to lead others by example. Given the nature of LYC rallies, it will be imperative to lead this team in consistently laying down their pride at the feet of Jesus, consecrating their lives to the will of God. It is only from this position that the worship band will be able to effectively lead others in corporate worship. Ultimately this role requires a willingness and desire to develop strong relationships (both with each other and with God) outside of the practice room in order to be effective inside the practice room and on stage. With spiritual preparation as the foundation, you will work closely with Eric Miller to develop a repertoire of songs that convey the message and theme of LYC 2015 and its individual rallies. You will be responsible for guiding band members through the theology and purpose of the songs. Once this has been established, you will rehearse the band to learn and memorize the songs. Excellence (not performance) will be your measure. Performance seeks to absorb the glory. Excellence seeks to offer our best to God, demonstrating diligent preparation and commitment to leading others effectively.

COMMITMENTS: Developing strong, spiritual relationships and excellent musical repertoire takes time. You will be expected to coordinate and schedule weekly rehearsals that focus on spiritual growth and musical development. You will also be expected to meet with your band outside of rehearsal time to focus on team building and keeping the mission at the forefront. Additionally, you will meet periodically with the rallies team to discuss pertinent details, developing an awareness and understanding of how the worship band will work in tandem with the other elements included in the rallies.

WORSHIP TEAM COVENANT:

I, ______, have read and understand the commitments for my area (print name) of interest. I agree to follow Christ’s example and adopt a lifestyle of worship that reflects my commitment to Christ. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and am saved and redeemed only through my Lord and Saviour who became flesh to relate with us and die for our sins. As such, I promise to pursue holiness and righteousness by actively dying to sin and nurturing a relationship with my Father. I promise to grow spiritually with my team and with others in fellowship. I commit to living in the word so I may be attentive to God’s will in my life and so I may remain fuelled by the Holy Spirit. I will not participate in activities that may cause myself or any other person stumble in their walk with God. As a member of a worship leadership team I promise to lead by example by adhering to this covenant and remaining attentive to reproof by my brothers and sisters in Christ.
