STATEMENT OF PURPOSE/GTE STATEMENT Nursing, in my opinion, is a career where you never really finish learning. It is a highly demanding career that brings new challenges everyday but with it comes many rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. Thus, I am determined to continue my education in the nursing field, and I feel honored and fortunate to have been accepted for pursuing Certificate III in individual support and Diploma of Nursing in ETEA (Education Training and Employment Australia), Sydney. I have always admired Florence nightingale, ''The lady with the lamp'' and her dedication to serve people has inspired me to choose nursing as my career. I, ……………….., a permanent resident of Jaranku, Kathmandu, Bagmati, Nepal, was born on 21st November 1996. Talking about my strengths, I am a hardworking and dedicated student who loves to overcome new challenges of life with a smile. I passed my school leaving certificate from North Valley English Secondary School obtaining 81.75 percentages in 2012. I was considered as a laborious, honest, disciplined and sincere student throughout my school life. After completion of SLC with outstanding academic performance, I pursued my PCL level course in nursing from Norvic Institute of Nursing Education under CTEVT, Nepal. Because of my strong determination and hard work, I scored high percentage in PCL nursing examination, i.e., an aggregate of 87.28 percentages in the year 2015. I have also secured band score of 6 in IELTS, which opens me a door to study in International University. During the three years of PCL nursing, I gained both theoretical as well as practical knowledge in various areas such as medical/surgical, child nursing, adult nursing, mental health, gynecology and midwifery. Such environment provided me with an opportunity to learn and practice the process of evaluation and treatment of the patient's both physical and emotional problem. I used to be amazed and intrigued at the same time, when I saw many patients being cured and realized that even a basic nursing care could help the people improve, maintain, and promote the optimal health and quality of life. After observing the ultimate satisfaction of patients after their recovery, I found this profession to be very rewarding. This experience sparked my interest and desire to continue my further studies in this field. In addition to nursing education, I have also gained practical exposure during my college life in the hospital as a student nurse by collaborating with physicians, patients and other relevant parties. Today, this experience has made me more confident to work together as team member and develop my interpersonal skills. However, in this competitive world, the nursing profession and the larger health care system require an extraordinary range of skills and talents. I believe that continuing my education in this field will help me to provide the best possible care to patients and advance my nursing career. It will also help me learn much more essential skills such as critical thinking, effective communication, leadership skills and management skills. Diploma of Nursing from Australia will provide me with the skills and knowledge that is required to succeed in today’s evolving healthcare environment. Beside this Diploma of Nursing will be the best foundation to do further study in Bachelor Degree. There are limited opportunities in Nepal for higher degrees in nursing. Also, the institutions in Nepal are far from being at par with the international standards. I aspire for an education, recognized all over the world and not just within the given geographical boundary. So, I decided to continue my studies in Australia. Australia is a multicultural, safe, friendly and welcoming society offering excellent environment for international students to adjust and study. Australian institutions are widely recognized for their excellence as they deliver practical and career- oriented education so that students can acquire required skills and knowledge to enhance their career. Australia stands among popular study destinations with international students from across the globe. I believe Australia is an ideal destination to continue my higher degrees in nursing. Additionally, with an Australian degree, I will have better employment opportunities both in my home country and other parts of the world. Some other reasons for choosing Australia rather than any other countries are:

1. Australia has low crime rates compared to other countries. 2. UK’s climate, weather and cost of living are not as attractive as those of Australia. 3. USA's tuition fees are more or less similar with those of Australia; however, USA does not practice a uniform, whole nation accreditation system like Australia. I am also not guaranteed the quality of service after making such huge investment. 4. Australia, is a country with diverse culture and safer environment, and ranks as third most sought destination for international students with its universities consistently ranked among the top universities in the world. 5. Australia has a nationally accredited system for their vocational studies framework and this gives strong confidence to its quality. 6. Australia provides dynamic and progressive education program with a reputation for excellence, globally recognized course and qualification. 7. Australia provides unique kind of education and a learning style that encourages innovative, creative and independent thinking culture. 8. More importantly, the nursing education in Australia is world renowned to be practical with primary focus on employment, which exactly fits my expectations. Graduates from Australia are very successful in finding jobs and holding prominent position in my country. 9. Australia also practices ESOS act (Education Service for Oversees Students) for international students which governs fundamental rights of international students and enables our rights to receive accurate information before enrollment, current courses fees, mode of study and other relevant information about institution.

10. CRICOS (Commonwealth Registration of Institutions and Course for Overseas Students) is also an important factor of Australian Education System which ensures quality education to international students.

11. TPS (Tuition Protection Service) and gun control system are other attractions of Australia. I have chosen ETEA for my studies because it will surely provide me the best in terms of research, resources, technology, experienced faculty, having impressive departmental commitment to maximize the opportunities for its students. ETEA is a private college that delivers high quality programs from certificate III to Diploma level since 20 years. Being an ISO 9001 quality endorsed company; it also provides a professional approach towards training needs. The ETEA Nursing department has a focus on quality, friendly environment, and holistic nursing education. ETEA adheres to the philosophy of collaborative, and non-didactic learning to create a nurturing environment with small classes and educators of different specialties as well as extensive nursing and educational experience. It also has strong commitment to communication, legal documentation and cultural safety in our courses reflecting a depth of trust and ethics sought to ensure client safety. It provides me with the opportunity to establish the right kind of relationship between students and lecturers and ensures better teaching and learning environment. In addition to this, Australia represents many nationalities; it offers a range of support services to help the international students adjust to new college life. Moreover, the tuition fee for diploma of nursing is comparatively affordable than other colleges. I believe the facilities offered by the ETEA will help me gain experiences instrumental for my professional and intellectual development.

Sydney is the second most livable city in the world, and the climate of Sydney is similar to that of ours. Moreover, the tuition fees are affordable and matches with our fund, which is primary reason why I decided to choose ETEA, Sydney for the nursing course. After completion of my certificate III course of 1 year, I will pursue my diploma in nursing. Likewise, other reasons behind choosing ETEA are the small number of classes, comparative low tuition fees, and location desirable course for my further career.

My fundamental reason for wanting to pursue Certificate III in Individual support followed by Diploma of nursing is my passion to reach zenith in my chosen field of study and attain perfection in everything I undertake. So, I decided to complete my further education from a well- renowned country to get internationally recognized degree. Nursing is not just about caring people rather it is an art of science of promoting health, preventing the illness and optimizing the health and abilities. The courses, which I have chosen will definitely help me achieve a quality education that makes me capable of facing present health cinereous. After gaining the knowledge and experience I believe that I will be able to contribute significantly both at personal and community level to rejuvenate Nepal's health sector and realize the importance of sustainable development of Nepal.

I strongly believe in ''Survival of the fittest'' as every single individual tries their best to earn a happy and satisfactory life. I have always believed that my real and strong determination to face the challenges in life will lead me towards the path of success. Since a very small age, I had a faith that hard work with little bit of extra effort will help me realize all my goals. I also have the deep passion to reach the supreme height of success in whatever field I choose and attain perfection in everything I undertake. Maybe I am dreaming too big but sometimes dreaming is achieving and I dream to be nothing less than the great Florence Nightingale in context of my country Nepal. So, I decided to complete my further education from a well-known country with an intentionally recognized degree. Diploma of nursing is designed to build the skills needed for our further course that is Bachelor of nursing. On completion of this course, one could be enrolled as a nurse. This Diploma of nursing is nationally accredited in Australia and after completion of the course and after demonstrating competent clinical skills, nurses can apply to Australian health Practitioner Regulation Agency. I want myself to be powered up with exercise on my academics and English proficiency. I want to broaden my vision of knowledge that would make me easy to start my Bachelor of nursing.

Diploma of nursing is designed to be completed in 18 months with 25 units of competency, consisting of 20 core units. 5 elective units, consists of: 1. At least 3units from the electives listed in the qualification information. 2. Up to 2 units from any endorsed training package or accredited course –these units must be relevant to the work outcome.

Diploma of nursing also consists of course units to work with diverse people, promote aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island cultural safety, reflect on and improve own professional practice, confirm physical health status, analyze and respond to client health information and practice nursing within the Australian Health Care System. It also helps to apply communication skills in nursing practice, perform clinical assessment and contribute to planning nursing care, implement, monitor and evaluate nursing care plans, contribute to nursing care of a person with complex needs, apply principles of wound management in the clinical environment, implement and monitor care for the older person etc. Electives can be chosen to suit the specialization relevant to the work outcomes.

After finishing my study, I intend to continue my nursing career in my home country. There is abundant scope of nursing in Nepal, but what we lack is skilled manpower working in this field because undergraduate courses offered in Nepal are not updated well. Similarly, there is lack of quality health care services, health education institutions, health knowledge and health practice in most of the areas of my country. Therefore, I want to use the knowledge gained in Australia to serve those people who most require it in my country. I wish to make contribution in this field so that more people will receive quality services and somehow improve the current scenario of nursing care in Nepal.

Moreover, having an international degree would offer better career opportunities in the future. This will allow me to move into higher level jobs such as leadership and administrative jobs in government hospitals. After working for several years of hands on experience hospitals, I can seek my career as Senior Nurse In charge, Matron, Surgical Nurse, Community Nurse, and Aged Care Nurse after completing my proposed course with 80k to 90k Nepalese Rupees. Also, it makes me eligible to obtain jobs in teaching and counseling in my country. This program would open an avenue to get a job in specialties such as Aged care nursing, Medical/Surgical nursing, Community nursing, Palliative care nursing, etc. Likewise, I could be involved in various NGOs and INGOs as well. Therefore, I see my future in Nepal with my family and have an intention to return to my country after the completion of my study. I believe that having quality education and ample exposure to practical based knowledge would be very helpful to achieve my ultimate goal and launch my career in nursing in my home country. I am confident that ETEA would be an ideal platform to nurture my potentiality and necessary resources to develop my career in nursing. I am aware that the course demands the hard work, perseverance and dedication from its students. I am confident that I will be able to meet these expectations. I look forward to joining ETEA as an undergraduate student.

Yours Sincerely,
