TOWN OF PLEASANT VIEW CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES May 10, 2016 7:00 PM at Pleasant View City Hall 1008 Civic Court, Pleasant View, Tennessee

CALL TO ORDER at 7:05 PM by Mayor Keenan

CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES Alderman Leasure motioned to approve the minutes from the Public Hearing and Regular Council Meetings on April 12, 2016. Vice Mayor Rediker 2nd the motion. All Aye. Mayor Keenan – Did not vote. Motion passed.

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA OF THE EVENING Vice Mayor Rediker motioned to approve the agenda. Alderman Drake 2nd the motion. All Aye. Mayor Keenan – Did not vote. Motion passed.

PUBLIC FORUM Columbus Jones spoke asking for support for Diabetes classes being held at City Hall.

Vice Mayor Rediker motioned to close the public forum. Alderman Drake 2nd the motion. All Aye. Mayor Keenan – Did not vote. Motion passed.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MAYOR A. Review of Debt Policy – No action is required on this item. Debt Policy was reviewed in the Workshop on April 25, 2016 and no changes are required at this time. B. The first Play Day in the Park was held on Saturday, April 23rd. C. First Cruise’n N Groove’n of the year will be on Friday, May 20th from 5:00 p.m. til 9:00 p.m. D. Certificate of Appreciation – Weston Abner, Boy Scout Troop 76 – Eagle Scout Project – 2 benches for nature trail at Pleasant View Community Park.

CITY ATTORNEY’S REPORT No lawsuits currently pending and none threatened. Reviewed and revised new liquor ordinance and compliance forms.

FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Shift Commander volunteer hours: 485 (at station hours) Duty Crew volunteer hours: 1,946 (at station hours) Available Volunteer hours: 3,692 (in area hours) If we paid these firefighters: $91,845 (savings)

BUILDING COMMISSIONER REPORT Residential Permits – 0 Commercial – 0 Additions – 1 Swimming Pools – 2 Remodel Permits – 1 Other (Driveway, Sign) – 2 Accessory – 2

PLANNING COMMISSION Alderman Leasure reported that the Planning Commission was working on the Home Occupation Ordinance. The board also worked on plan review for Triangle Road along with zone changes.

PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD Vice Mayor Rediker reported that the board discussed Play Day. The board is also getting bids together for a volleyball area.

BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE Alderman Bracey reported the committee met with Sam and Michelle Greene, new developers to Pleasant View. The board also discussed the need to update the developer packet, along with the rezone on twelve properties to commercial. A handout was given on “Operational Definition of Character Qualities”.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE No report.
