Math Syllabus

Welcome to Math Class! This is certain to be a busy, fun and challenging year for us all. Please know the following information to help your child be successful.

Objectives: Students will have Resource math class for 45 minutes each day, in which they will be actively engaged in lessons. This year we will focus on: . Critical Mathematic Strategies . Vocabulary pertaining to math . Unit Projects/activities . Strategies specific to the STAAR test . Enhancing and learning new math skills . TEKS specific to childs grade level

Expectations: It is imperative that students avoid being absent, come to class prepared and have all the necessary supplies. Daily supplies include: . Folder/Journal . Paper, pen and pencil

Tutoring: Tutoring will be available for students based on work completion and to work on skills not mastered in class.

Grading Policy: Minor Grades (daily class work) ---50% of the six weeks Major Grades (tests, quizzes, projects) ---50% of the six weeks

Daily Procedures: Students will complete daily warm ups (journal) when they enter class, complete lessons and work on activities to master skills that are needing improvement if all their work has been completed.

Make-up work policy: . Students shall be given one day for each day missed due to an absence in order to turn in make-up work within the prescribed time. Tests shall be made up within the prescribed timelines, and at a specific time designated by the teacher. For any other arrangements please feel free to call me. . No points will be deducted for the absence if the work is turned in within the prescribed time. Failed Assignments/Late work: . Students will be allowed to correct all failing assignments to a 70%. . Students will be allowed time in class to complete assignments. Any assignments not completed in class may be assigned for homework.

Academic Integrity: Please refer to the student handbook for integrity policies.

Classroom Behavioral Expectations: Students are expected to adhere to the following behavioral expectations: . Be prompt . Be prepared . Be polite and respectful . Be productive . Be EXCITED!!!
