II. Officer Elections- Proposed Slate: President Andrea Chenet & Cira Wright VP- Costumes (big job) Nikki Lewark, Nehmat Ajami-Tekdogan, & Mrs. Sookhansingh VP- Volunteers open VP- Fundraising Elyssa Holley VP- Staging & Props Peggy Jordao VP- Administration Kim Byerly-Eisenmann VP- Music/Library Laurie Seckman Treasurer Jennifer Barker Secretary Priscilla Mikulec Historian Jennifer Collins III. Reports A. Secretary- approve minutes from past meeting May 2014 B. Treasurer- money policies & summation of summer activity; proposed 2014- 2015 budget. REGISTRATION DONATIONS $20 DUE BY OCT. 10. C. Presidents D. Vice-Presidents- 1. Costumes- Formal Uniform RENTAL FEES & PURCHASE PAYMENTS DUE Oct. 10; Formal Uniform Check Day Is Nov.13 for girls & 11/20 for boys. Parents will get a slip telling results of the check. Informal Uniform Check Nov. 7 at Sing-a-Thon (jeans & t-shirts)- T-shirts will be distributed that day - worth 25 points). Black shoes/socks only for both formal & informal uniforms. Help needed with checking both days! Order for new uniforms will be placed end of next week. Reserved formal uniforms which have been paid for have been sent home. Anyone needing to be fitted for a formal uniform will be taken care of ASAP. Both the registration & rental donations must be turned in in order to receive uniforms. 2. Volunteers- Help needed with checking uniforms on Nov. 7, 13, & 20. Help needed with Sing-a-Thon 11/7. Help needed with rehearsals daily & dismissal at 3:40- Middle & high-schoolers welcome! 3. Fundraising- Sing-a-Thon is Fri. Nov. 7 from 2:10-6:30pm. Mrs. Eisenmann- Byerly will elaborate. See New Business. Other proposed fundraisers include: PPSBA exists to promote the chorus and music education in general at Plantation Park Elementary School. PPSBA strives to help choristers develop scholarship, leadership, character, and musicianship. Staging- no report at this time. 5. Admin.- Please remember to send in absence notes/emails within 2 rehearsals of an absence or your child will incur an unexcused absence. Please schedule doctor/dentist appts. On non-chorus days whenever possible. Choristers must remember to take their nametag or they will be marked absent. Using restrooms during rehearsal is a point deduction (8/10). 6. Music/Library- folders went out today for the year. Please bring every rehearsal. Put a pencil in your child’s notebook in one of the page protectors. Coming to rehearsal without the notebook is 7/10 points. Please keep music in its proper order- see page 1 of notebook for table of contents. Congrats to notebook cover contest winners! Announced at Thursday’s rehearsal. New music for the holidays is being ordered along with replacement copies of other songs. E. Mrs. Greggs- banner; Oct. 15 at 6pm- 5th Graders Sing at Zone Showcase, calendar, PPSBA Board Mtg needed; website; Big Sister/Brothers; trip, etc. III. Old Business- done under officer reports. IV. New Business A. Needs of the Month- copy paper, brownie items & goodie bag donations, Avery labels #5160 or equivalent, new desktop computer. Thanks to those who have sent in paper, glue, blue painters tape, and other supplies!!! B. Fundraising 1. Fall Sing-a-Thon- Fri. Nov. 7 from 2:10-6:30pm- $15 pledge goal. Need Volunteers to: a. supervise rehearsals (also assist w/informal uniform check) b. bag/donate items for brownies at school week of Nov. 7 c. get pizza for 6:00pm- donations or purchase; organize drinks d. get paper goods e. get gift certificates from Barnes & Noble, GameStop, or ??? (will be reimbursed). f. serve pizza and drinks from 6:00-6:30pm; clean up g. Make harvest goodie bags and assist with checkout h. Sell snacks and count pledges i. compile parent critique data for Mrs. Greggs j. administer/proctor musicianship tests 2. Proceeds go to children’s accounts & PPSBA general fund (50%/50%) 3. MINI-CONCERT AT 5:50PM FOR PARENTS- it’s a short one showing what they have learned so far. Please help critique them on singing basics (complete critique sheet as you listen)… this becomes our baseline data for improvement. 4. Brownie & goodie bag item donations needed by Wed. Nov. 5- notes will be given to kids Oct. 10 requesting who brings what… their item will be on their name tag! V. Open Floor
