Tuesdays with Morrie Project
This presentation will be done in three parts.
Part 1: You and your partner (or group of three) will choose three (one each) of the aphorisms from the text and create a presentation in which you explore that saying. You should look at the following questions to guide your exploration:
What does it mean for the text as a whole? What does it mean for our culture? Would other cultures interpret this saying in a completely different way? Can the wording of the aphorism be taken only at face value, or is further analysis needed to truly understand the saying? Do you think you would find a different meaning in the saying if you were twenty years older? Does it a hold a deeper meaning for you because of certain experiences (that you’re willing to share)? Can you connect the saying to other literary or historical texts/events?
That is your job. Analyze, explore, and interpret your aphorism on as many levels as possible, and then present this exploration to this class. Your presentation of each aphorism should include a WRITTEN explanation that answers some of the questions above.
Part 2: Aphorism Image. Find a picture or image that is relative to your aphorism. Then use the computer to add the aphorism to the image. DO NOT find one on the internet. I want to see you CREATE one of your own. Part 3: You will receive part three of this project the next time that we work in the lab!
Keep in mind, we will spend only a couple days in the lab on this, so you may need to work on some of it at home.
Prepare your presentation in the form of a Power Point, Google Slides, or Prezi.
This will count as 2 quiz grades, so please make sure your analysis includes information on how that aphorism is explored throughout the text.
CREATING THE WEBSITE:
What you need to do:
1. Use WEEBLY to create your free website. (http://www.weebly.com/)
2. Make sure that the front page of your website depicts an academic website that is dedicated to discussing Mitch Albom’s Tuesday’s With Morrie. Remember that creativity is encouraged. Be creative with all aspects of the website, including what you name your page.
3. Make sure to name both the author and the book on the first page. Also be sure to include all of your group member’s names somewhere on the page.
4. Majority of your information should be original. That said, I do not mind you researching information for your page; however, EVERYTHING that you use from a source must be cited. All sources for each individual posting must include a link to all sources as well as parenthetical citations within the post.
