Internet Scavenger Hunt For this session you are going to become “Internet Detectives” You have all been picking up new skills for use on the Internet, and now I am going to challenge these skills with an Internet Scavenger Hunt. You will need to first open Word to store you information as you navigate the WWW. Now begin your quest on the Internet.

1. Use WordArt to create the title “Internet Detectives” for your search. It must be all on one line and no bigger than 2cm high. Save file in your CLASS folder, (class 6M/6G) naming the file “ID (your names) 2005 for your teacher to find later. 2. Find a picture of Sherlock Holmes copy and paste it to the top left-hand corner below your title. Add a text box to the right of the image and type in his full address in London. 3. Go to http://www.jamesbond.com/ activate the menu follow the hyperlink to “Golden Eye”, activate the eye and list the special functions of the Golden Eye on your file in a text box. 4. Find a picture of “DangerMouse” on the Internet copy and paste it to your file. Add a text box copy his famous slogan that begins “He’s the ……” in to it. 5. Find an image of “Joe 90” copy and paste an image of him on your file. Now answer the next 4 questions in a text box next to the image. (Answers are on this site.) 6. What does W.I.N. stand for? 7. What is his father’s name? 8. How old is ‘Ada Harris’? 9. What is the Title of episode 12? (Now SAVE your work) 10. Who is Nancy-Drew? Answer in a new text frame. 11. Find an image of ‘Nancy-Drew’, copy and paste it to your file. 12. Go to http://www.warnerbros.co.uk/web/sd_brand/index.jsp and name of the famous dog using WordArt. 13. Create a text frame and add the full names of the other 4 main characters in the films/series. (You may have to visit another site to complete this.) 14. Who is ‘Secret Squirrels’ sidekick? Add name in to a text frame. 15. What is MI6 and who is famously connected to it? Add details to a text frame. 16. Add an image of the main MI6 building to your file using copy and paste. 17. Add your names at the bottom, save the work and print one copy. Note: Always follow appropriate Internet safety guidelines when using a scavenger hunt of this kind.

If you are using a search engine then make sure it is as safe as possible. Make sure content filters are set to the maximum level. Always try out the questions first (including misspelling search words) to see what sort of results appear and amend/delete questions if they cause problems.

Make sure children are familiar with your school’s Internet safety policy before you start. Never allow children to work on tasks such as this without suitable supervision.
