HOUSEPOINT WINNERS – LIONS

Hello everyone

It is lovely to see the sunshine again!

Year 6 have been working so very hard with their SATs tests and everyone involved has been so impressed with their positive approach to the tests, well done to them all. This is the start of the build up to our final assessments for the year and Year 2 will be completing their formal tests too over the next couple of weeks.

Lots of teddy bears arrived in school today in anticipation of their picnic which is going to take place this afternoon. Elections took place in Year 4 for their prime minister – I think it was even more exciting than the real thing and the lunch hall was buzzing as voting took place. Great fun with Samba drums in Year 6 last Tuesday – the vibrations could be heard throughout school. In Year 1 they have been making beautiful stained glass windows and in Reception we have had a visitor called Alex Botham who kindly worked with the children over 2 days to record sounds and plan poetry to make a creative piece together. In Year 2 they have been reading one of my favourite novels The Twits and in Year 3 they have been learning about the Romans. Year 5 have been busy with their work in shape in maths and writing their own verses for The Highwayman poem.

On Tuesday 19th May we will be causing a little bit of disruption in Year 3 and Year 4 as myself and others will be interviewing prospective candidates for the new Year 4 teaching post to start in September. Hopefully I will be able to let you know the outcome soon and we will then be able to confirm the teachers for each class in September.

We look forward to meeting our new starter parents on Tuesday 19th May and listening to our talented musicians on Thursday 21st May. Thank you to everyone who has been able to send in bottles and sweets and I look forward to seeing you at Fantastic Friday. Fingers crossed for some decent weather.

Kind regards

Linda Clayton
