The Town of Smyrna Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Recruit. We are looking for an individual with strong integrity and problem-solving skills to join our growing organization in this role. You will maintain order and protect life and property by enforcing local, state, and/or federal laws, in addition, you will patrol areas, direct traffic, issue traffic summonses, investigate accidents, apprehend and arrest suspects.

Police Officer Requirements:  High school diploma or equivalent;  College credit in criminal justice or related field preferred  Must be 21 years of age at time of employment and hold a valid driver’s license  Physically capable of performing duties (running, climbing, lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50 pounds, subduing or restraining persons)  Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite  Must pass background check, medical and psychological exam, and drug screening  Excellent communication skills, including de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention

STARTING RECRUIT PAY: $48,160.32
