Principal Report 11.5.15 Last week we welcomed three students back to Ararat North, this takes our number of students to 63.4. All students (who were able) participated in both the school Athletics Carnival and the Lake Bolac and District Athletics Carnival. All students entered every event and completed every event – a great achievement and something to be very proud of. I was particularly proud of our students at the district sports, their behaviour and involvement was fantastic. It was also great to get feedback from parents and teachers from other schools about how fantastic our students were on the day. Thank you to Mr Johnson for preparing our students for these days and to staff and parents who also assisted. In addition to athletics, students from LA2 attended a soccer clinic along with other students from across the area. Oh Ya Bike started last Friday, we have 8 students beginning the program this year. The mentor program, managed by Alli is up and running with all students allocated a mentor meeting weekly. Staff have engaged in weekly staff meetings and professional learning within the school and with teachers from across the area. Focus for these has essentially centred around writing; an area outlined in our strategic plan. Next week NAPLAN assessments will be conducted with years three and five students. These assessments provide data which informs us about student progress and supports teachers in developing their teaching and learning programs. All staff have had an opportunity to access flue injections. We currently have a book fair running where students can purchase books.
