Gov. Scott Proclaims Certified Public Manager Recognition Week

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Florida’s CPM Program Adds 351 New Graduates, Gov. Scott Proclaims “Certified Public Manager Recognition Week”

Tallahassee, Florida – July 6th, 2017 The Florida Certified Public Manager (CPM) program will be honoring 351 new graduates this summer. That will bring the total number of CPM graduates in Florida to approximately 5,906-- more than in any other state.

In honor of these CPM graduates, Governor Rick Scott has designated the week of July 24-30, 2017 as “Certified Public Manager Recognition Week.”

The CPM program is a nationally-recognized leadership development program, currently delivered in 38 states. The purpose is to develop more effective public managers, thereby improving services to all Florida taxpayers.

There will be two separate CPM graduation ceremonies this summer, each of which is the culmination of a three-day leadership conference.

 July 20th in Tallahassee, with 175 graduates. The ceremony will be held in the Ruby Diamond Concert Hall, starting at 1:15 P.M.  August 24th in Bartow, with 176 graduates. The ceremony will be held in the Bartow Civic Center, starting at 1:15 P.M.

Florida has one of the most successful CPM programs in the country. It is administered by the Florida Center for Public Management at The Florida State University, which is part of the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy.

These 351 new graduates have completed a rigorous two-year program, including 32 days of training, plus required projects and exams. Over 100 government agencies—including cities, counties, state, and constitutional offices— have participated in the Florida CPM program.
