JOB DESCRIPTION Community Warden – Small Villages
Job title: Community Warden Salary: £4855 PA plus pension Place of work: Villages of Castle Camps, Shudy Camps, Horseheath, West Wickham, Balsham, West Wratting and Weston Colville. Hours: 12 hours per week Monday - Friday (Mornings) Responsible to: Warden Team Leader
INTRODUCTION
Age UK Cambridgeshire is an independent charitable organisation which exists to improve the quality of life for older people in the county. The charity meets this objective by: Providing services Campaigning for a better deal for older people Working in partnership with other organisations Identifying, and finding innovative ways to meet, new and changing needs.
JOB PURPOSE
The Community Warden assists older people to continue to live independently in their own home. The Community Warden will be responsible for delivering and promoting the service, to the current model of our present service portfolio, under the direction of the Home Services Manager and the Warden Services Team Leader.
MAIN TASKS
1. To provide support to clients of the scheme by making daily contact (Mon-Fri) via telephone or by personal visit.
2. Provide reassurance and security through regular point of contact to older people and their relatives, being a listening ear and noticing changes in their wellbeing and acting accordingly.
3. Helping clients with tasks such as, making drinks, watering plants, feeding pets, small amounts of shopping, collecting prescriptions, offering information where appropriate. 4. Liaising with other organisations, such as other Age UK services, Social Services, Community Nurses, GP’s etc.
5. To maintain accurate and up to date records of fees collected from clients.
6. Weekly banking of fees and forwarding of documentation to Warden Team Leader.
7. Promoting service by distribution of leaflets, posters and talking to older people’s groups. Liaising with local professionals.
OTHER DUTIES 1. To undertake such other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as may be allocated by the Chief Executive or other senior management.
