Humboldt City Council Meeting Minutes Monday, November 24, 2014 7:00 pm

The Humboldt City Council met in regular session on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Humboldt City Hall. Mayor Ritchy Griepp called the meeting to order at 7:00pm with the following members present for roll call: Theresa Muth, Allen Schmeichel and Adam Lund. Amanda Siemonsma was present for city personnel. Others present were Bleau LaFave from Northwestern and Justin Kjellsen from Big J’s Roadhouse. The November 10th meeting minutes were reviewed. On a motion by Schmeichel and second by Muth the meeting minutes were approved. Motion passed. In short open discussion, moving the Finance Office was discussed. BUSINESS: Justin Kjellsen was present for the Public Hearing to Transfer the liquor license and malt beverage license from the Trophy Room to Big J’s Roadhouse Bar & Grill. On a motion by Lund and a second by Muth the transfers were approved. Motion passed. Kjellsen left the meeting. Bleau LaFave was present to address any additional questions about the acquisition of Humboldt’s natural gas system. He clarified any misunderstandings and answered questions and concerns. Siemonsma will be in contact with LaFave to discuss Humboldt’s past rates and structure. LaFave left the meeting. The council discussed Resolution # 14-11-24, which will raise the monthly natural gas fee from $12 to $20 effective January 1, 2015. This monthly rate has been $12 from the start of the natural gas system and the council feels it is time to raise the fee. The purpose of raising this fee is to pay off the gas system sooner. On a motion by Lund and a second by Griepp the Resolution was passed. Motion passed with all members present voting aye. With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:08pm on a motion by Griepp and a second from Muth. Motion carried.
