S E C T I O N 2 JRM, NISMO & NISSAN SPONSORSHIP PROFILE JRM – A NEW TEAM WITH WORLD-CLASS RESULTS S E C T I O N 2 An exciting new name in the world of GT racing, JRM is the official race partner of Nissan Motorsports International, bringing together almost two decades of motor racing experience including Formula 1 and the Le Mans Series. Operating from it’s state-of-the-art 50,000 sq ft motorsport centre in Rye, East Sussex, England, JRM has the technical expertise and practical hands-on knowledge to take on any engineering task and deliver immediate results, both on and off the race track. NISMO NISMO - Nissan Motorport International, established in 1984 as the motorsport and performance division of Nissan, NISMO specialises in the design and development of world-class race and rally cars, together with the management and promotion of all Nissan’s international racing activities. NISMO is responsible for the development of the Nissan GT-R for GT1 competition and provides technical support to the JRM team. NISMO’s remit also includes the planning, development and sales of competition parts for Nissan production cars. NISSAN A P R O U D H I S T O R Y O F MOTORSPORT SUCCESS From its first ever race at the Tamagawa Speedway in 1936 to its decisive win at the Super GT Championship in Japan in 2010, Nissan has been a constant presence in international motor racing. Competing in legendary races such as the 24 Heures du Mans, the Daytona 24 Hour, the Nurburgring 24 Hour, the Indy 500 ,the Dakar Rally and the Japanese GT and Touring Car Championships, Nissan race and rally cars have secured numerous victories and remain at the forefront of the sport. MEET THE DRIVERS Aiming for the championship title are the highly experienced German GT drivers Michael S E C T I O N 2 Krumm and Lucas Luhr, competing in car No. 23, with the equally talented British pairing of Peter Dumbreck and Richard Westbrook driving car No. 22. MICHAEL KRUMM - Car No.23. The official NISMO race and development driver since 2003, Michael has established himself as one of the quickest competitors in the FIA GT1 World Championship. Michael’s achievements include five titles and podium finishes in the Le Mans 24-hours. LUCAS LUHR - Car No. 23. Lucas joined the FIA GT1 World Championship for the first time in 2011. He brings with him his vast experience of GT racing, which saw outright victories and class wins in a variety of championships and endurance races including: ALMS and FIA GT Championships, Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring, Spa and Nürburgring. PETER DUMBRECK - Car No. 22. A highly experienced GT racer, Peter began his career driving single-seaters. Following works drives for Mercedes at Le Mans and the FIA GT World Championship in 1999, he went on to contest the DTM series for five years, later competing in Japan before driving a Nissan in last year’s GT1 series. RICHARD WESTBROOK - Car No. 22. Richard’s performance in the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship put him in line for the JRM Racing drive this season. Starting in single- seaters, he moved to GT cars and enjoyed many seasons of success in Porsches, winning the British Carerra Cup and Supercup titles twice, followed by the FIA GT2 Championship. The new GT1 cars embody all of the glamour and excitement of GT racing, whilst offering a cost-effective formula for independent teams to compete for a major World Championship title...” Jean Todt, President of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) PRESTIGIOUS BRANDS - POWERFUL CARS S E C T I O N 3 Much praised for its fast-paced, TV-friendly format, the FIA GT1 World Championship was launched at the start of 2010, and is one of only four FIA-recognised world championships - alongside Formula 1, World Rally and Touring Cars. The 2011 season builds on this success and is already living up to its reputation with a series of dramatic races that featured some of motorsport’s most respected drivers. This year’s championship sees five manufacturers represented, with all cars based on standard production models: Nissan (GT-R), Aston Martin (DB9), Chevrolet Corvette (Z06), Ford (GT) and Lamborghini (Murciélago). Each manufacturer is limited to supplying two privateer teams. In all, 10 professional race teams are competing for the 2011 championship, together with 20 iconic GT sports cars and 40 world-class drivers. Each round of the championship includes two one-hour races, featuring two drivers per car: a qualifying race, to determine grid positions for the main event, and a championship race. Every race includes a mandatory mid-point pit stop for a tyre and driver change.
