Clemson University Libraries’ COURIER SYSTEM PROCEDURES COLOR CODES  Cooper Library, PASCAL, Interlibrary Loan & University Center Greenville  Gunnin Architecture Library  Tillman Media Center  Library Depot  Special Collections SENDING ITEMS REQUESTED FROM YOUR LIBRARY LOCATION 1. If the item is for pick up at another Library location or ILL, check-in the item with Millennium & set the item to “in transit” - DO NOT CHECK-IN ITEMS THAT ARE REQUESTED FOR PASCAL! 2. Place the any printed paging and/or transit slip in middle of item’s pages 3. Add the appropriate label to the front of the item according to the patron requested pick up location 4. Check "In Transit" AND "On Hold" on the delivery label 5. Add a note if item is on hold for Interlibrary Loan (ILL), PASCAL or for pick up at the University Center Greenville (UCG) 6. Place the item in the appropriate colored courier bin for pickup and delivery RECEIVING ITEMS FROM THE COURIER Your items returning from other Library locations: 1. Check-in your items with Millennium and follow prompts to clear the “in transit” status 2. Remove delivery labels from CU Libraries’ items

3. Return your items to the appropriate location Clemson Libraries items on hold to be picked up at your location: 1. Check-in each item with Millennium and follow prompts to clear the “in transit” status

2. Click YES to “print a slip” with the patron’s name to place in the item

3. Remove the delivery labels from items

4. Place the item on the hold shelf to be checked out to the patron upon retrieval *PASCAL items on hold to be picked up at your location: 1. Check-in PASCAL items with Millennium by typing the letter “b” and the items’ barcode 2. Follow prompts to clear the “in transit” status & respond NO to all prompts about queuing slips 3.Place the item on the hold shelf to be checked out to the patron upon retrieval…

- Check-out the item in Millennium by typing the letter “b” and the items’ barcode

- Ensure that the same due date on the PASCAL label is assigned during check-out in Millennium! *Interlibrary Loan items on hold to be picked up at your location: 1. DO NOT CHECK-IN INTERLIBRARY LOAN ITEMS!

2. Place the item directly on the hold shelf to be checked out to the patron upon retrieval…

- Check-out the item in Millennium by typing the letter “b” and the green TN number of the ILL label - Ensure that the same due date on the ILL label is assigned during check-out in Millennium! After processing all items delivered by the courier, SEND OUT HOLD PICK-UP NOTICES IN MILLENNIUM

RETURNING ITEMS TO ANOTHER LIBRARY LOCATION

1. Check-in the item with Millennium & set the item to “in transit”

2. Add the appropriate return location label to the front of the item

3. Check "In Transit" on the delivery label *Library Depot will check additional label boxes and/or add notes as needed

4. Place the item in the appropriate colored courier bin for pickup and delivery If Millennium stated that the item is on hold for a patron at another Library location: 1. Set the item to “in transit” in Millennium 2. Add the appropriate label to the front of the item according to the patron requested pick up location 3. Check "In Transit" AND "On Hold" on the delivery label 4. Add a note if item is on hold for Interlibrary Loan (ILL), PASCAL or for pick up at the University Center Greenville (UCG) *Library Depot will check additional label boxes and/or add notes as needed 5. Place the item in the appropriate colored courier bin for pickup and delivery *PASCAL items: 1. Write “R” to indicated it was returned, the date & your initials on the PASCAL label

2. DO NOTHING IN MILLENNIUM!

3. Place the item in the red courier bin for pickup and delivery *Interlibrary Loan items: 1. Check “Returned”, write the date & write your initials on the ILL label

2. Check-in the item with Millennium by typing the letter “b” and the green TN number of the ILL label & set the item to “in transit”

3. Place the item in the red courier bin for pickup and delivery *Clemson Libraries’ items cleared from the hold shelf - expires 7 days after pick up location receipt: 1. Clear the patron’s hold in Millennium & set item to “in transit” 2. Add the appropriate return location label to the front of the item

3. Check "In Transit" on the delivery label

4. Add a note that the item was “not picked up”

5. Place the item in the appropriate colored courier bin for pickup and delivery *ILL & PASCAL items cleared from the hold shelf - expires as soon as due date on label passes: 1. DO NOTHING IN MILLENNIUM! 2. Write an “X” on the PASCAL label or check the box indication the item was “not picked up” on the ILL label or 3. Place the item in the red courier bin for pick and delivery

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS TO THE LIBRARY DEPOT

1. Complete the “Internal Depot Delivery Label” with unit, specific person (if applicable) and any relevant notes about the item and/or your request(s) ex: “Donation”, “Withdraw”, etc. 2. Add the label to the front of the item & place the item in the green courier bin for pick and delivery
