Rubric for “Congruent twins”

Student’s performance Criteria Remediation Getting started 2 or less right answers Students possibly are unable to distinguish congruent figures even if they keep the same orientation and could be confused for the use of patterns or colors. Explain that congruence refers to shape, sizes and angles. Make sure they are using the patty paper properly. Moving forward 3 or 4 right answers Students possibly are able to pair figures with the same orientation, but are confused when they change it. They must understand that congruence occurs despite change in orientation. Almost there 5 or 6 right answers These students could be ‘fooled’ by appearances. Some figures, especially when rotated, appear ‘different.’ Make sure students verify congruence when possible, particularly with figures of the same shape Got it! 7 or 8 right answers Students are able to identify congruent figures. No remediation needed.
