GENERAL RULES FOR THE USE OF STUDY CUBICLES

1 Security 1.1 Clients must personally ensure that the cubicles are locked after use. 1.2 The Library does not accept responsibility for damage to or loss of items left unattended in the cubicles. 1.3 All items left behind in the cubicles will be removed by Library staff and handed in at the security desk. 1.4 Should a cubicle or its contents sustain damage, the last user of the cubicle will be held responsible for its fixing or cleaning. Any damage should be reported at the beginning of a session to the Library security staff. 1.5 Library staff will periodically inspect the cubicles without prior warning and/or notification.

2 Hours 2.1 Study cubicles are available for use 30 minutes after opening time to 15 minutes before closing time.

3 Keys 3.1 Clients must sign a register at receipt of the key. The person who signed the register will be held responsible for the key. 3.2 Should the key be returned after the set time, a fine of R20.00 will be imposed with an additional R10:00 per hour after the first hour. 3.3 Should a user lose a key, a fine of R100.00 will imposed.

4 Library rules 4.1 The general Library rules apply. 4.2 The official policy regarding the use of cell-phones applies. 4.3 No eating and drinking is allowed. 4.4 The windows (e.g. in doors) may not be covered. 4.5 Clients may not affix posters to the walls. 4.6 Furniture or equipment may not be moved around inside the cubicle, removed from it or brought into it from other areas. 4.7 The cubicles must at all times be kept neat and clean. 4.8 Groups or individuals making noise or disturbing other users will be requested to vacate the cubicle.

5 Use of information sources 5.1 Information sources must be issued to the client before use in the study cubicles. 5.2 Reference works and non-circulating sources may not be left in the cubicle. (Including bound and/or loose journals).

6 Individual study cubicles 6.1 The study cubicles are made available only for study or research. 6.2 Only one person per study cubicle is allowed.

7 Group discussion cubicles 7.1 Group discussion areas are made available only for study-related discussions. 7.2 Should a group discussion area not be used, the Library reserves the right to re-allocate the area.
