Position Title: Vice President Resource Development and Marketing Department: Corporate Services Reports To: CEO Supervises: Grant Coordinator, Resource Development Assistant, Marketing Specialist FLSA Status: Exempt Workers’ Comp Code: 8810 Last Revised/Approved: October 2015 HOURS AND JOB SITE: This is a regular full-time position, 40 hours per week, generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The primary job site is in the Lewiston office.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Vice President of Resource Development & Marketing serves as the chief resource development and marketing officer of the organization. Primary responsibility is development and execution of resource development and grant writing strategies for Community Concepts and Community Concepts Finance Corporation. Leadership and oversight for all facets of the annual and community-wide campaigns and providing direction in the area of marketing, grant writing, development and management strategies. This position has several major goals including increasing agency funding streams, researching new areas of growth, expanding funding opportunities for CCI and CCFC by researching grant development and foundation opportunities targeted to help CCI and CCFC meet goals, missions, strategic directions and community needs. Other responsibilities include agency branding, contributing to Agency expansion plans through participation on agency and community collaboration RFP teams when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform the usual duties of a director, including developing and managing program budget(s); hiring, scheduling, supervising, delegating, training, developing and evaluating subordinate staff; resolves human resource issues; maximizes employee performance and morale; keeps staff informed on goals, expectations and issues. 2. Serve as a member of the Executive and Senior Management teams. Contributes to the development of the Agency strategic plan and directions, through oversight of implementation of strategic imperatives. 3. Provide leadership to ensure that the resource development goals and objectives are met. 4. Develop annual fundraising strategies for CCI and CCFC consistent with the strategic development plan including: campaigns, special initiatives and a significant contribution to the publications relating to the communication and marketing of these efforts to donors. 5. Develop the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve system and goals. Provide oversight for the Agency marketing activities, web site and materials. 6. Create an institutional and system-wide development and marketing reporting function that can track, measure and analyze performance. 7. Ensure all marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives and are an effective expenditure of resources. 8. Develop and effectively maintain internal staff and external community relationships through leadership, and/or participation in community networks, collaboratives, task forces; and through developing and maintaining relationships in the conduct of all resource development and marketing activities. 9. Spearhead business development initiatives that are consistent with the overall strategies of CCI and CCFC. 10. Oversight and development of the Agency’s donor and potential donor database seeing that it is accurate and up- to-date, categorizing and refining information, collecting financial information and production of various management reports, sharing results with CEO, CCFC, Executive Team and Boards. 11. Build a donor base by the stewardship of major donor relationships, strengthening existing relations and responding to inquiries, acknowledgment of gifts, providing Agency materials and information that would be of interest, and ensuring ongoing and regular contact with donors. 12. Develop and coordinate relationship building with Boards, foundations and other groups as assigned through strategy development, coordination of meetings, and contact of many kinds (phone, mail, email, dinners, etc.) 13. Staff the board development committee, set agendas, coordinate their efforts, coordinate the board “give or get” policy and information, support the CEO’s periodic reporting to the Board on development efforts. 14. Identify potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors in the community for cultivation: community groups, influential individuals, and partnerships; maintain community awareness, identification of leads from friends of the Agency or CCI’s CEO or CCFC’s CEO, scanning local and national business publications, and making community presentations. 15. Contribute to quality assurance through the recommendation of development policies and management of development activities consistent with board and Agency development policies or practices. 16. Prepare and administer the Agency’s resource development and marketing budget, monitor actual expenses to budget, take corrective action where necessary and maintain close communication with the CEO and Director of Finance regarding the budget and availability of cash. 17. Prepare presentations to explain CCI’s and CCFC’s future strategies.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs additional duties as assigned.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY:  Has effective fiscal management of this program through participation in establishing the annual budget, monitoring expenses and instituting corrective actions, as well as achieving fundraising goals.  Contributes to annual Agency and program expansion plans, and to the decision making process of program expansion or elimination, through working collaboratively with the CEO, Executive Team, Directors and any others assigned to address expansion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, including operation of a standard computer keyboard, and reach with arms and hands; occasionally required stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, squat, crouch, and climb; frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 pounds; required to constantly talk, see and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions; protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes; otherwise normal office conditions; walking up steps; carrying equipment/supplies up to 30 lbs. up two flights of stairs without assistance, and over 30 lbs. with assistance. QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION: Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:  Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must; demonstrated team effectiveness and consensus building skills required; must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with all level of staff and the public at large  Five years of proven experience in fundraising abilities in the areas of annual campaigns, major donor development, planned giving capital campaigns, marketing and special events preferred. Experience with external and internal communications practices a plus.  Non-profit experience, with at least two years of supervisory experience required.  Must be a self-starter, willing to learn new skills and possess the ability to work in a team and in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.  Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher is required; Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, Quark Express or PageMaker experience is a plus. Hands-on knowledge of web design, web applications, graphic design, and print publishing needed.  Must have and maintain a valid Maine driver’s license and a vehicle covered by liability insurance.  Must have a telephone.

Education/Certification Requirements: The following education and/or certification requirements are considered essential:  Master’s degree in Social Work, Business Development, Non-profit management or related field is preferred.  A CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) is preferred.  Pre-employment debarment background checks must be completed and results received to verify employee is not presently disbarred, suspended, proposed for disbarment, declared ineligible or voluntarily excluded from participation by any federal department or agency. These checks will be done initially as a condition of employment and as required thereafter.
