POST TITLE: Faculty Leader

PAYSCALE: 1b (+ £9,011)

RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Team Link

RESPONSIBLE FOR: All teachers of the Faculty subject(s)

JOB PURPOSE: Ensure highly effective learning within the curriculum area

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: The following list is typical of the level of duties which the postholder will be expected to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar type and level may be required from time to time.

Teaching and . Ensure that the faculty’s work is focused on improving pupils’ Learning learning . Ensure that faculty colleagues are aware of developments in teaching and learning strategies which may enhance pupils’ learning . Exemplify good practice in the teaching of the subject(s) . Monitor and evaluate the teaching of departmental colleagues Curriculum . Plan, implement, review and develop the faculty curriculum . Develop programmes of study and schemes of work for the subject(s) which meet the needs of all pupils . Ensure continuity and progression from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 through to Post-16 education . Ensure that the requirements of the National Curriculum and examination specifications in relation to the subject(s) are fully implemented . Organise enrichment opportunities for students to extend their subject education outside of lesson time activities . Keep abreast of developments in all aspects of education as well as in the subject(s) in order to plan effectively for the future

. Ensure that assessment procedures and the recording of pupils’ Assessment progress are in line with school and national requirements

. Ensure that assessment is both regular and thorough and that full records of student work are kept Leadership and . Lead the team in accordance with the Christian values of the Management school . Exemplify good practice in the teaching of the subject(s) . Attend all appropriate meetings including parents’ meetings, occasional governors’ committee meetings and liaison meetings.

. Contribute to the overall development of the school

. Produce appropriate plans to contribute to the School Development Plan Discipline and . Support subject leaders and faculty colleagues in managing the Inclusion behaviour of pupils studying the subject(s) . Liaise with year leaders in promoting good behaviour in lessons and on the way to and from lessons . Monitor and evaluate faculty performance in external and internal Quality Assurance assessment

. Monitor and develop the practice of individual faculty staff with particular reference to School Improvement Plan priorities

. Ensure that Subject / Key Stage Leaders routinely monitor the performance of teachers and pupils in their departments

. Ensure that the professional development of staff is considered, Personnel supported and managed through CPD . Fulfil the role of Team Leader in appraisal arrangements . Hold regular faculty or department meetings (at least one per half- term) with agenda and action points . Advise and direct members of the faculty in the performance of their professional duties . Strive to establish and maintain a happy and productive team . Induct new staff and take overall responsibility for newly qualified teachers and student teachers assigned to the faculty . Line manage departmental staff including personnel procedures relating to performance and staff discipline . Monitor and secure staff safety

Resource . Manage the resources of the area supported by the business Management: manager . Purchase stock as required and ensure proper storage . Plan and manage the faculty/departmental budget in consultation with the finance team . Ensure that relevant Health and Safety legislation is followed . Manage and care for faculty rooms, reporting problems to the business manager or caretaker . Liaise with the librarian to ensure that library provision supports the faculty’s needs
