Algebra Final Exam Review Sheet

Review for Chapter 4 Test More Linear Equations and Inequalities

4-2: Horizontal and Vertical Lines  Equation of a Horizontal line y = k  Equation of a Vertical Line x = h  Graph both equations on a coordinate plane  Given ordered pairs, be able to name the equation  Be able to look at a graphed line and name the equation

4-3: Using Tables and Graphs to Solve  Be able to use the Lists and Spreadsheet environment on your calculator to solve  Be able to write expressions/equations from the story problem given  Be able to graph both lines on a coordinate plane  Remember Control T will give you a split screen between the table and the graph  Be able to interpret the table of data values  Understand the concept of the break-even point

4-4: Solving ax + b = cx + d  Review the steps for solving equations algebraically with variables on both sides  Be able to show all steps on BOTH sides of the equation  Be able to perform a check on your solution showing all steps

4-5: Solving ax + b < cx + d  Review Multi-step process for solving inequalities algebraically with variables on both sides  Remember the Sense of the inequality changes (flips) if you divide or multiply by a negative coefficient  Be able to perform a check on your boundary point AND another point in the shaded area  Graph your solution on a number line (Remember: circle type and shading direction)

4-6: Situations That Always or Never Happen  No Solutions – are false statements (ex: 6 > 9) AND parallel lines result  All Real Numbers – are true statements (ex: 7 = 7) AND one line results  x = 2 – is the answer (don’t attach it to the two answers above AND two intersecting lines result  Review steps on how to graph these on your n-spire

4-7: Equivalent Formulas  Review steps on how to solve for Equivalent Formulas  Remember to highlight or underline the variable you are solving in order to keep track of it

4-9: Solving Absolute Value Equations and Inequalities  Know what absolute value is  Be able to solve for the absolute value and understand it’s meaning  Be able to graph the results of the absolute value on a number line

NOTE: Review your preview sheets, old quizzes, and notes and you will well
