[1143] 2 1 Whereas, he was selected as the area chaplain for the South 2 Carolina Association of Conservation Districts (SCACD) three 3 times and as the association’s State Chaplain of the Year in 1995; 4 and 5 6 Whereas, serving as the state chaplain for SCACD since 1996, he 7 was responsible for overseeing the Annual Soil and Water 8 Stewardship Week, which is observed in local churches around the 9 State and successfully provides pertinent information to involve 10 church members in the urgent work of conservation; and 11 12 Whereas, Reverend Knotts was elected the Aiken Soil and Water 13 Conservation Commissioner in 1996 and continues to serve in that 14 capacity, currently serving as district chairman; and 15 16 Whereas, since 1972, he has served as the Aiken Soil and Water 17 Conservation District Chaplain and has conducted training for 18 district chaplains at the state and regional meetings of the National 19 Association of Conservation Districts; and 20 21 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly 22 are pleased to pause in their deliberations to acknowledge the 23 exceptional contributions of Reverend Thomas Milton Knotts on 24 behalf of our great State and his fellow man. Now, therefore, 25 26 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives 27 concurring: 28 29 That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South 30 Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Reverend 31 Thomas “Tommy” Milton Knotts, and commend him for his years 32 of dedicated service to the South Carolina Association of 33 Conservation Districts. 34 35 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 36 Reverend Thomas “Tommy” Milton Knotts. 37 XX 38
