With the arrest of 1) Vikas @ Vicky s/o Jai Prakash r/o Vill. Sherpur Lohara Police Sation Baraut, District Bhagpat, UP. 2) Monu Kundu s/o Sh. Harveer Singh r/o D-5/774, Raj Nagar Colony, Loni, Ghaziabad, UP and 3) Sonu s/o Sh. Gopal Ram r/o B-120, Mangal Baazar, Gokal Puri, Delhi, the North East District Police has solved a sensational case of Kidnapping for ransom of a minor. With their arrest, kidnapped child has been rescued safely.

INCIDENT: On 04.11.11, the complainant namely Sh. Jogender Kumar r/o E-175, Gali No. 7, Ashok Nagar, Delhi in his complaint reported regarding the kidnapping of his child. A case vide FIR No. 434/11 u/s 363 IPC was registered accordingly and investigation was taken up by Inspr. Rakesh Kumar, SHO/PS Jyoti Nagar himself.

TEAM : Considering the gravity of the case, a special investigation team comprising of Inspr. Rakesh Kumar, SHO/PS Jyoti Nagar, Inspr. Magesh, Inspr. ATO/PS Jyoti Nagar, SI Prempal, HC Dilbagh, HC Satender, HC Rajender, Ct. Rukesh, Ct. Kamlesh and Ct. Satyanarayan, under the over all close supervision of Shri Bani Singh, ACP/Khajuri Khas was constituted for an early breakthrough in the case and to recover the minor child. INVESTIGATION: During the course of investigation, several teams were formed and were assigned the jobs from different angles. Several raids were conducted at various places & several persons were interrogated continuously. From the analysis of crime & entire sequence thereof, prima facie there was strong suspicion that this crime could have been committed by some known person. For the same, several boys in the neighborhood with dubious character i.e. ruffians, smack addicts were picked up and interrogated. Even, close relatives of the deceased were also under scanner. With painstaking and relentless efforts, various pieces of evidence, testimony and information were linked to solve the intrigue puzzle of case. The background of the complainant was thoroughly analyzed to learn about his background, antecedents and his past movement.

On 05.11.11, in the forenoon, complainant (father of the child) received a ransom call on STD booth situated near his residence. The accused deliberately didn’t call at his mobile number to avoid any disclosure of identity. The complainant expressed his doubt over his tenant Vikas @ Vicky as he found his past conduct and conduct of visiting friends, somewhat abnormal and fishy. On his suspicion, Vikas @ Vicky was thoroughly examined. This examination created a panic in the mind of Vikas. He immediately called his associate Monu and expressed his fear of being caught as they were under police scanner. He immediately directed his associates to eliminate the child and come back to prove their innocence.

But the destiny had a different plan. On one hand the child was located by villagers in village Hamidabad, on other hand their mutual contradiction led to disclosure of their entire game plan. The child was traced to Bhagpat District and safely rescued on 06.11.11.

INTERROGATION: During the sustained interrogation of accused Vikas & Monu, both spilled the beans and confessed their involvement alongwith Sonu. Monu is a graduate from Delhi University but was unemployed of late and under pressure to make quick bucks to pay off his debts. Whereas, Vikas is also financially on the weaker footing and sustained a loss in business. Both were in dire need of money. Vikas got the idea of kidnapping after watching one famous serial on the TV. He found it quite an easy method to earn quick bucks. He shared the idea with Monu, who in turn associated Sonu in the plan of kidnapping. Obsessed with the fantasy of earning Rs. 25 Lakhs within a day, they hatched a plan to kidnap the son of the landlord of Vikas, as Vikas could easily take with him. They thought that Joginder, who is a property dealer, could easily arrange the sum. They planned everything with meticulous details. They were highly influenced with famous hindi flick “Inkaar” in which entire plot was around kidnapping of a child. To receive the ransom amount, they planned in similar fashion i.e. receiving ransom bag in between two railway stations through moving train.

Vikas brought the child, who was playing outside the house and handed over to Monu & Sonu. Vikas immediately returned so that nobody could had suspicion over him. However, their earlier plan to keep the child at Sonu’s residence couldn’t materialize as some guest came to his house. So they changed the plan & they took the child with them and spent the night at Bhaita Railway Station. In the morning, he took him to Baghpat via train. Meanwhile, he got message from Vikas, who pressed the panic button and ordered him to get rid of the child. Monu tied his hand & feet and with a view of kill him, he tried to strangulate the child by tying a string around his neck. Assuming him to be dead, they threw it in the sugarcane field and returned back to Delhi.

But during police interrogation their contradiction and gap resulting in breaking them and they narrated the entire sequence.

It is noteworthy to point out that Vikas is residing as tenant in the house of complainant since last 3 months only. He won the confidence of the family but complainant didn’t conduct tenant verification of Vikas.
