Our goals and objectives are simple yet ambitious. We want to educate people about the needs facing the Humane Society of Utah (HSU) and help increase the adoption rate. We also feel its necessary to enlighten our community about the glaring atrocities to which animals are being subjected.

The appalling numbers of animals in need of good homes is astounding. Ten of thousands of lives are saved each year through the collaborative efforts of the staff and volunteers of the Humane Society of Utah. The HSU helps bring together animals with many generous Utah residents who take on the responsibility of sharing their lives. Our group project will help the HSU to complete that wonderful task. Being a non-profit organization, the HSU exists solely through the support of donations both large and small. Through our project we hope to raise a substantial amount of money and donations like toys, beds, food, and other vital resources.

In addition to helping facilitate adoptions, it is our intention to educate the people who attend our event. It is through education, that an amazing transformation in our community can take place. We hope that the information we give will impel people to question the accepted conventions. Perhaps it will inspire them to take many small steps like choosing to purchase goods only from companies who don’t test on animals. Better yet, armed with understanding of how abuse and neglect affects society as a whole, they may be more likely to report acts of abuse when they see such atrocities happening.

The purpose for our project is many fold but far reaching. If we can only open one mind our project will be a success because like a smile, awareness is contagious.
