Volunteer Role: Freshers’ Week Team Leader

Responsibilities:  To attend Team Leader [TL’s] and Freshers Helper [FH’s] training in the week prior to Arrivals Weekend: September 13th and 14th 9.30-16.00 -exact times to be confirmed  To be aware of the role of Freshers Helpers and to take responsibility to lead, supervise and support them in their duties throughout Arrivals Weekend and Freshers Week. These can include; moving students and their possessions into their accommodation; walking Freshers to events or activities; door knocking, to encourage Freshers to engage with activities; meet and greet; assisting at events.  To organise the FH’s rota throughout the week and be prepared to make contact with FH’s and fellow TL’s to manage the rota  To be point of contact for FH’s and fellow TL’s  To provide information on activities and the campus  To act as an ambassador for GK Unions, Kent Union, Students’ Union University of Greenwich, University of Kent and University of Greenwich when engaging with new students  To assist with the running of Freshers’ Week activities

Limitations of the role:  Any issues that can’t be resolved should be communicated to GK Unions staff

Support / training provided:  Two days of training on September 13th and 14th from 9.30-4.00 [exact timing TBC], attendance is compulsory  Ongoing support is available from GK Unions staff

Time required to complete responsibilities:  You need to be prepared to volunteer for possibly 25+ hours across the training day and throughout Freshers’ Week.
