Dear Parent/Guardian,

The 2016 – 2017 school year will begin on Friday, August 19th for 6th graders and Monday, August 22nd for 7th and 8th graders. With that in mind, I want to let you know about a few important dates for our 2016- 2017 registration.

Our 6 th Grade Parent Night/Electives Showcase is Thursday, March 10th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.. All incoming 6th Grade students and their parent or guardian must attend this important night. Please bring this completed packet to receive your Elective Course Selection Form from the Registration Tables set up in the cafeteria. Students will have a chance to see their elective options, hear about our IB program, learn about athletics and clubs, and receive helpful information concerning middle school transition. We encourage you to return your completed Elective Course Selection Form on the evening of March 10th; however, families who need additional time can return them to your elementary schools by Monday, March 14th.

Our annual 5 th Grade Visitation Day will be April 28 th from 9:15-11:30 for all our incoming 6th grade students. This is a great time for your 5th graders to experience middle school and meet teachers. In addition, locker practice and tours will be available for interested incoming 6th graders on Thursday, August 18th, 2016 in the afternoon. Please look for specific details on the Erwin website as this date approaches.

Visit our web site at http://www.thompsonschools.org/erwin in August to see our current bell schedule, athletic information, and download athletic packets. Students must submit a current (within a year) physical and payment along with application before trying out.

In August, your child will pick up his/her schedule in the gym on the first day of school, Friday, August 19th . Students will report to their first hour teacher before going to their locker. Locker practice and organization time are provided during this transition day.

Fee invoices will be available on Parent Portal in September 2016. Visit the district website in August to see 2016 - 2017 Board approved fees as well as the current 2016-2017school calendar.
