Job Description

Title: Senator

Supervised by: Speaker of the Senate

Hours per week: Minimum of 5-7 hours

Position Qualifications:

1. Be a student at UWSP. 2. Have a grade point average of 2.00 or better. 3. Be carrying a credit load of at least 6 undergraduate or 3 graduate credits.

Duties of a Senator:

1. Attend the weekly Senate meetings every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. 2. Attend Caucus meetings for your College (meetings set by Caucus Chair) 3. Sit on two committees a. SGA Committee – A committee made up of other Senators and students to work on different areas to protect student rights b. University Committee – A committee consisting of faculty and administrative staff members where a Senator represents the student body 4. Outreach Hours to consist of at minimum 5 community service hours and one on campus Student Government Association event or program per semester.

Major Job Responsibilities:

1. Represent the students of your College on issues before Senate 2. Keep students informed on topics before Senate and those discussed in Student Government Association and University Committees 3. Be open to feedback from other students 4. When informed of a problem, try to find a solution, or find someone who can
