TITLE: Admissions Coordinator / Medicaid Specialist LAST REVISED: September 2, 2016 REPORTS TO: Administrator

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of your job positions is to obtain required information and admit residents in an efficient manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor. To monitor all Medicaid functions relating to residents of Magnolia Manor, Inc. and as may be directed by the Administrator. As Admissions Coordinator / Medicaid Specialist, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY:  Assist in interviewing residents and their guardians.  Admit and prepare identification records for residents in accordance with established policies and procedures as well as assist in the orientation program for residents.  Maintain an accurate record of available beds.  Admit, transfer, and discharge residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility.  Collect, assemble and check admission papers. Forward to appropriate departments  Maintain a resident waiting list in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Keep abreast of current Medicare / Medicaid regulations governing admission / discharge requirements of health care facilities.  Obtain Medicaid application and required documentation.  Follow up on application and families as needed.  Maintain summary notifications from DFACS or Medicaid web portal  Set up Financial files on Resident’s / Medicaid files.  Communicate with DFACS case workers in regards to residents applying for Medicaid. KEY STRENGTHS AND REQUIREMNTS:  Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.  Strong computer skills  Must possess the ability to work without direct supervision

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

 Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent  Must have, a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Medicaid programs, general accounting and data processing skills.  Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant work experience.
